“In a interview with a TV business channel, Stéphane Richard, Orange CEO (leading carrier in France), announced [having] received information regarding the iPhone 5 and its planned release date on October 15th,” Lionel reports for HardMac citing Mac4ever.
“October 15th is a saturday, and in the past Apple has been usually releasing such device[s] on a Friday or Thursday,” Lionel reports.

Maybe it’s a timezone thing: It’s already the 15th in France by the time Apple gets around to releasing it in the USA, where it’s still friday the 14th 🙂
I think Apple is leaking various dates so the Apple police can track them back. This guy was stupid enough to be on TV when he provided a date.
This guy is a CEO and he doesn’t have common sense enough to keep Apple’s secrets?

Notice that none of these statements or rumors from the carriers reference an iPhone 4S, it’s always the iPhone 5.
