“As Steve Jobs leaves the stage at Apple Inc., four of his top understudies are coming into the limelight,” Poornima Gupta and Sarah McBride report for Reuters.
“Jobs has long been a larger than life figure inside and outside the company he co-founded, even though for years he was surrounded by superb talent who deserve at least some credit for runaway successes such as the iPad, iPhone and iPod,” Gupta and McBride report. “Enter newly minted CEO Tim Cook, design genius Jonathan Ive, mobile software guru Scott Forstall and product marketing maestro Phil Schiller. The quartet have stayed in the wings for years, operating in relative anonymity.”

Gupta and McBride report, “But within the tightly knit Silicon Valley community, they have built formidable reputations in their fields. With Jobs’ departure, they now have an opportunity to take center stage, former Apple executives and experts said.”

The four horsemen of everyone else’s appocolypse!
And their steeds are named Mac, iPod, iPad, and iPhone.
ok…so that means Phil is famine, Jonathan is war, Tim is kinda quiet he could be death and that leaves…oh poor Scott got stuck with pestilence (though I think that one can also be conquest).
“Phil is famine”
ROFLMAO
I laughed so hard I spewed… Sitting in a restaurant, food coming out of my mouth, people staring at me. Best laugh I’ve had in months!
For Apples competitors, The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse.
webstyr, quick on the trigger!.
Okay, let’s all keep in mind that Steve recommended TIm as the new CEO, but he has not been officially given the title as yet…
Just like Walt had to keep reiterating, “Steve’s not dead yet.”, “Tim’s not CEO yet.”
yes he is. Look here: http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/
Tim is CEO. Check out http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/
And that was there already yesterday.
You ought to become a reporter
Good, competent tech professionals – just like all the good, competent tech professionals around the world. None of them can do what Steve Jobs does. In 24 months Apple Inc. will be a company like all the other tech companies run by good, competent tech professionals.
What an aptly chosen last name!
Yup!
A right royal one at that!
Unlike other CEOs, Steve Jobs was always quick to thank the people on the team that made something happen.
I even think the signatures of those that made the first Mac Plus can be found on the inside of the case.
Other CEOs need to learn this basic skill.
Apple was not the only company, nor the first to do this.
For example, every Mercedes-Benz AMG engine is signed by the engineer that hand-assembled it.
It is a great practice, but Apple is not alone there.
“relative anonymity”???
Are you kidding?
nda
I thought the same thing. But, in fairness, even though we all know the four like old friends, non-fanatic Apple watchers probably do not.
Don’t forget Bob Mansfield.

Don’t forget all the others inside Apple!
