“Following the devestating earthquake in Japan earlier this year, Apple has added a new early earthquake warning notification option to iOS 5,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac.
“iOS 5 users in Japan can turn on early earthquake notifications at the very bottom of the iOS 5 Notification Center settings pane,” Gurman reports. “All the user has to do is flick a switch to start receiving these notifications. I was thinking a “Hot Now” alert for your nearest Krispy Kreme shop would be appreciated by many.
Appreciated by WAY too many!
It begs the question though for an interesting Notifications app (killer?) that would enable people to be notified for all user defined kinds of things in their proximity (yeah, call it Proximity or just Prox). I LIKE it! Be nice to know if an IN ‘N OUT Burger were nearby, a tsunami was coming, HOT DOG ON STICK, etc.
Hey developers, start developing this!
Pure Genius
There was an app for this already, but being part of the OS is better.
I was thinking of WalMart ‘RollBack’ price notifications for American users.
Those same notifications would be useful the world over for earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, hurricanes, and the like. I hope it isn;t just Japan.
The heck with Japan! What about US?
