Apple vs. Samsung: List of all 19 lawsuits going on in 12 courts in 9 countries on 4 continents

“I have finally found a complete list of all lawsuits going on between Apple and Samsung around the world,” Florian Mueller reports for FOSS Patents.

“The parties filed 20 lawsuits against each other, but two of them (in California) were consolidated into a single one, so there are 19 ongoing lawsuits at this stage — and counting,” Mueller reports. “Those are taking place in 12 courts in 9 countries on 4 continents.”

Mueller reports, “In some jurisdictions, such as Germany and apparently also the Netherlands, lawsuits over more than one patent are frequently split up into separate lawsuits. In that case, the actual number of lawsuits may already be higher. But the list [full article] is complete in terms of all the complaints that were filed.”

  1. Samsung is used to practically running a country, but they are finding out its a big, bad world out there. Of course, if they can get the South Korean courts to let tens of thousands sue Apple on “TrackingGate” they will get a little thrill.

  2. The numbers here are funny. If you add up 19 12 9 4 you get 44. 4 4= 8, so you can assume Microsoft is backing Samsung’s lawsuits: Windows 8. 44 divided by 4 ( number of continets ) = 11, the year ( 2011 ). 11 8 = 19, the number of lawsuits.
    Pretty clear to me.

  3. Samsung was under contract to produce for APPLE. After APPLE take this win I hope APPLE buys out SAMSUNG and controls the manufacturing STRICTLY as APPLE all things digital!!!!!!

  4. Florian Mueller is the Anand Lal Shimpi of patent transactions, especially the Apple-Microsoft-Oracle vs Motorola-Google patent war. His extremely detailed FOSS Patents blog discussions are fascinating reading. There is much, much more on his site than just the article that MDN refers to here. If there is anyone I believe in this area it is him and he thinks 1) the Google acquisition of Motorola Mobility (MMI) is about much more than just patents, 2) that the MMI patents will not protect Google from Apple and Microsoft lawsuits, 3) that Google may face regulatory issues that will threaten or delay its MMI acquisition, possibly causing it to have to cough up an enormous $2.5 billion breakup fee, and 4) that Google is in BIG trouble with Oracle over its usurpation of Sun’s (now Oracle’s) patents. I come away with the impression that Google and its Android operating system are in much more legal jeopardy than the regular press seems to think.
