If you knew anything about Britain, then you’d know the police DON’T carry guns, except for certain specialist groups trained to carry firearms. It must be said that the Met, (Metropolitain Police), are held in pretty low esteem, by most people as the place where those who fail the entry standards of county police forces are welcomed with open arms. And within the Met there are groups considered to be little more than thugs, the former SPG being one.
The regular police, however, do not carry firearms on duty.

The fact is both Democrats and Republicans have been guilty of ratcheting up “entitlement” programs for years in the endless search for votes and the quest to get re-elected. BOTH parties spent WAY too much money they didn’t have; BOTH parties utterly FAILED to address the problems of Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid, knowing all along the future inability of the programs to pay for themselves.
While Republicans and Democrats argue along their ideological lines about which way they should turn and which deck chairs to rearrange, the Titanic is speeding toward the iceberg. Nothing beyond significant, severe spending cuts and paying off U.S. debt (not just paying debt service) will solve the problem. New taxes (if any could be implemented) would be too little, too late and would stifle growth anyway.

Since the homicide rate in US is 3X that of the UK and 5X that of Germany, the “concealed carry thing” doesn’t seem to be working out for you. By the way, almost no homicide cases in UK and Germany, involve guns, which make it too easy and impersonal to kill as the horrific incident in Norway showed.
Being a US expat, I am well aware of how it is in the US (I hunted as a teenager and owned a gun until I gave it to relative a few years ago), and I have firsthand (not a sensationalized TV version) knowledge of how it is here as well.
