“Just over a month after the HP TouchPad hit the market, its price has been cut by one-fifth for a special weekend sale intended to boost sales of the iPad-competing tablet,” Sam Oliver reports for AppleInsider.
“Starting Friday and through the weekend, HP is selling its TouchPad for $399.99 for the 16GB model, and $499.99 for the 32GB capacity,” Oliver reports. “The prices, available through HP and at all major retailers, are with a $100 instant rebate.”

Oliver reports, “The PC maker has not shed any light on sales of its tablet, but the discount, which undercuts Apple’s iPad by $100, comes soon after the July 1 launch of the hardware, suggested it has gotten off to a slow start.”

All the reviews stated the device lagged.
Dead horses usually do get off to slow starts.
How about $299 at Staples?
http://thisismynext.com/2011/08/04/touchpad-399-99-weekend/
Staples is offering additional $100 coupon on already reduced $399 price tag. How slow are the sales? Are they selling any…
Face planted in Palm. Doh!
““The PC maker has not shed any light on sales of its tablet”
The only “shed” TouchPad is seeing is the ‘Wood Shed’!…

They should get this guy to sell HP TouchPads in Best Buy to ramp up sales.
woot! deal of the day 16GB Wi-Fi HP Touchpad $379.99
pass it up….. Staples, 299.99
Now if they were at 99.99 I may grab one for S&G’s.

Zune déja vu, again, again…
You’d think the industry would notice the pattern. Apparently modern MBAs are not taught to think.
Mac Book Airs?
MBA = Master of Business Administration. It’s one of my favorite rant subjects. Our ongoing economic depression has a lot to do with ignorant and brain dead MBA graduates. I have very little respect for most MBA schools. Crap in, crap out. MBA graduates are a dime-a-dozen as are most MBA schools, blahblahblah
MBA should be changed to MSS – Master of Spread Sheet. Or maybe MPP – Master of Power Point.
Lol. Reminds me of something a co-worker said to me… “powerpoint is a coloring book for managers”
Inside info ,very few have been sold, this will not help
They have an ad showing Manny Pacquiao with a TouchPad. If they want to actually sell some, they should send him to make personal appearances at their stores, so he can threaten to punch out folks who don’t buy.
Number One Plus, eh?
Does this mean that they are selling them at Staples for less than it costs to build them ?
That doesn’t sound like a sustainable business plan.
Yes it is. Microdork does it all the time with their POS stuff.
Don’t worry, HP will make it up on the Ink.
did love the katy perry fake video
regardless, Staples is probably trying to get rid of their stock.
TouchPad, meet Xoom. Xoom meet Playbook. Playbook meet TouchPad. Yall, make room, we got more folks coming to join you.
On the Island of Misfit Tablets.
What an excellent idea for a website.
Imagine all the crying children receiving on of these POS tablets on Christmas day. It’s going to get very crowded on The Island of Misfit Tablets. 😥
When Apple drops a price a month after release, everybody who bought one screams bloody murder, and the complaints make headlines.
Oh, wait, nobody bought a touchpad.
At $79 it would make a nice picture frame …..
Haha so true!
So my table seats just two
got so crowded, i can’t make room
where did they come from
stormed my room
and you dare say it belongs to you – to you
This is not for you,
this is not for you,
