“After a few days of using Lion – or OS X version 10.7 as it’s officially called – I found that I really rather like it. The ability to step backwards and forwards through a series of web pages simply by swiping your fingers left or right across the trackpad is really rather neat,” Cliff Joseph reports for The Inquirer.
“It’s practical, but it’s all the more effective because of Apple’s attention to detail. The animation as pages flick across the screen is so smooth that it really makes the Mac feel more responsive – as though the trackpad were an extension of your fingers (assuming, of course, that your Mac actually has a trackpad),” Joseph reports. “Some of those new multi-touch gestures do feel a bit clumsy at first… However, it really is rather satisfying when you flick your fingers up on the trackpad to activate the Mission Control feature and then just watch an entire screen full of overlapping programs and windows neatly reorganise themselves in an instant.”

Joseph reports, “Mac OS X Lion might look like just more Apple eye-candy, but new features such as Auto-Save and Versions are genuine productivity improvements, while the continued refinement of the OS X interface will appeal to long-time Mac users.”

I still can’t make this work for me. Two fingers, left or right. The page moves but I can make it go all the way. I feel so dumb!
Go fulltime screen, 2 fingeren move right to go back, left to go forward through history, 3 fingers to change app instances.
If you don’t slide far enough across the trackpad, you won’t step back/forward to the next/previous page.
You are using a multi-gesture capable trackpad, right?

Running smooth as silk on my 4 year-old MacBook. Granted, I don’t have enhanced multitouch actions, but it’s certainly not a “system requirement”.
Got and glad it was only $29- it’s an overrated update that dumbs down the OS and breaks quite a list of apps. Turned most of the touted ‘features’ off.
You’ll get it eventually (or maybe not). It’s clearly the way forward.
