“There have been expectations that Apple could release OS X Lion this week, potentially as early as tomorrow (July 14th),” Arnold Kim reports for MacRumors.
“A few doubts, however, have been introduced in the past couple of days,” Kim reports. “LoopInsight’s Jim Dalrymple tweeted this evening that he hopes ‘you guys don’t lose too much sleep waiting for the new Macs and Lion tomorrow :),’ suggesting that release won’t happen on Thursday. Dalrymple’s been known to have some inside Apple contacts in the past.”

MacDailyNews Take: If next week’s the week, it’ll be a very busy one with Apple due to post Q311 earnings and hold their quarterly conference call with analysts on Tuesday, July 19th. Maybe the following week instead?
I say tuesday 19th of August…
They have said “JULY” since the sneak peak, and echoed that at WWDC. I say they deliver like they said… and there’s little more than 2 weeks to do so.
Apple typically announces on Tuesdays and releases on Fridays. My money is on tomorrow or next Friday!
LOL! I think Tuesday, August 19th is a great guess! What year would that be?
Tuesday would be a good bet, but maybe over the weekend. The ISP load of a significant fraction of 54 million users trying to download a multi- GB OS is going to tax the net in many areas.
Let the bitching begin…
No launch yet. Server pproblems (damn PCs!)
We’re seeing the usual pps increase ahead of earnings. Releasing the OS after the conference call might help mitigate the customary post announcement drop in pps.
Oops. read. all. previous. posts. before. posting! Anyway, great minds…….
I doubt they will release it on the same day as earnings. If they release after they may stave off the typical downdraft that hits stock price after EC.
Not soon enough to suit me!

We will release no OS before it’s/its time.
(You’re choice of adjective or contraction — both work. 😆 )
Think about this: Release earnings report…stock goes up. Next week (or a few days later) release Lion & new hardware. Stock goes up. I predict July 22 or July 26.
Nah! You guys have got it all wrong. If you have iDisk and MobileMe you get first dibs. That’ll take the heat out of the servers…ha ha ha.
Personally, I’d like to see another GM build put out. Over at the MacRumors forums, developers are saying that the current GM still has some annoying bugs – nothing show-stopping, but still.
New GM build tomorrow with release next Friday?
Apple won’t release Lion on a this Friday or any other weekend because of the current format the OS is in. As Lion has to be downloaded Apple needs to release on a weekday to make sure their servers don’t crash or service providers won’t run into any issues. If tons of people are going to be downloading a rather large file that is going to put a major strain on networks. Yes, your hardcore Apple fans will download it the day it comes out….however, most people will download it on a weekend at home when they can. As well, most people won’t download it until reviews start coming in and most business people won’t download mid week because they are doing projects and won’t upgrade till they are done with them in case the OS has issues. Apple has to set it up to allow a flow of people to download this OS instead of a mad rush. Doing that on a weekday will allow this…….Hardcore fans the first few days and the average consumer the tail-end of the week and weekend.
As I’ve been saying all along, probably during the last few days of July. We’ll probably hear about another GM candidate later today or tomorrow. If all the “not minor” bugs are gone, THEN maybe next week will get the official release.
Waiting for new Macs with Lion already installed. No way am I downloading Lion.
Ah… A recent Windows switcher. 😉
Recent? Nope. Using Macs for about 16 years now.
