“Apple Inc. has been on a domain name roll lately starting with the iCloud.com/iCloud.org domain name purchases and now that they have announced several new products and functions, they appear to be buying the matching domain names,” Jamie Zoch reports for DOTWeekly.
“Not just one or two new domain names but at least 50 that were hand registered on the day of WWDC 2011,” Zoch reports. “Out of the 50 new domain name registrations by Apple Inc. only a couple are ‘generic’ in nature and do not include a brand/trademark with a generic term. These were all registered on 06/06/2011, so there clearly could be more that will be discovered in the coming days.”
The domain names run the gamut from airplaymirroring.com to osxresume.com.

Somehow I don’t think Apple will be registering iSteveBallmer.com any time soon.
Oh BTW is Lynn Weiler any relation to Lynn W? You only seem to post stories from her & Fred Mertz. Is Lynn married to Fred? Are both on your editorial board?
No I’m not married to Fred nor am I on MDN’s board. I am on the “bored” side at home and simply get all the RSS feeds.
Where do you live? I have experience in livening things up via Twitter! I assure you that you won’t be bored after my Tweets!
Icloud is a underestated service that apple has released. It is not flashy but puts apple in a unique place like iTunes did. The repercussions will reverberate in a cohesive synergy that no other platform will have. It will open doors to more efficient products that apple can construct taking advantage of icloud. It is a hidden giant.
It’s only the beginning. 😉
Rightly said. It’s a time bomb whose force will not be known until after it goes off. Then it will be too late. The biggest single hassle I have with 7 Apple devices in the house is keeping them on the same page. Gone.
I think the average user will take a while to fully get how to make use of all of this, but every problem I came up with as the keynote was going on was answered later on. Maybe that’s why he’s Steve Jobs and I’m not.
Next, Bluetooth printing for iOS, please.
Yeah it’s very much understated because they only gave it like 20 mins of showtime. It’ll probably go unnoticed because it just works seamlessly. As in google, well shit just hit the fan for them. It’ll take a lot cooperation with their handset partners to deliver such a clean service like icloud, because icloud, OS X, iOS are built from the same frame.
