Hyatt Hotels enhances guest services globally with Apple’s revolutionary iPad

Apple Online StoreFor over 50 years, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts have aimed to make guests feel more than welcome by providing amenities and services that meet their needs as quickly and directly as possible. With iPad, Hyatt now has the ideal platform to deliver the kind of seamless guest services the company prides itself on — not to mention a powerful, portable business tool for executives in Hyatt’s corporate headquarters.

“We’re all about home away from home,” John Prusnick, Director of IT Innovation & Strategy for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, tells Apple’s Hot News. “We’re also all about ‘high touch,’ meaning the interaction with the guest. We’re enabling that with iPad. The combination of the two has been very powerful for us to reach that operational vision.”

From Hyatt’s Chicago headquarters to individual properties throughout the world, iPad is changing the way this hotel empire does business. Features like instant-on power, fast Internet access, and a large, easy-to-use onscreen keyboard make iPad a valuable contributor in meetings — and many Hyatt executives now take iPads on business trips in place of laptops.

With iPad, Hyatt managers have an immediate, full-size view of their email, contacts, calendars, financial data, and other business resources wherever they are. “You can write up notes during a meeting, automatically make a PDF, and email it,” says John Wallis, Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s Global Head, Marketing & Brand Strategy. “In our office, iPad has already become part and parcel of the way we do business.”

  1. OH NO! Do they not know that the visionaries Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates have stated these devices are no good for business!

We pity the fools! Who would want to excel at customer service and creating an environment to ease the pain? Well, I guess Hyatt and Apple.

    Yet another PC sale flushed!

  2. It’s good to see the company using the iPad for business. (note taking is one thing) However, the iPad in my opinion is still not ready for primetime in the business world…..it’s too limited and basic features are locked out. As I wished every meeting I went to the company had an open wi-fi or the 3G service worked well. A simple sending of notes or docs on the iPad is a chore if wi-fi or 3G is not present (as my company has many wi-fi only devices) the fact I can’t send a doc via Bluetooth file transfer is a pain in the ass (some of my staff still uses laptops in meetings as well & not everyone uses Apple products) or for that mater just stick a jump drive into the camera connect kit to put on it there (which you can’t ) simple basic things like this make iPad not ready for primetime. I mean thank god in November we are getting the ability to print. That is sad as it should have been something that was part of the device when it launched. The iPad is great for consuming content……but not creating it. To many other things need to be place for the device to be productive for business (wi-fi/3G / Bluetooth apps/other people having those apps. In a perfect world all these would be great, but we don’t live in one……..so Apple needs to design a device with that in mind if they want to be serious about business. It’s a fun device and looks cool, but far tom limited in my eyes.
