Gartenberg: This is Apple’s most impressive fall lineup ever

“Fall is when Apple typically refreshes the iPod line and this year is no exception with the first time for new designs in the entire line in Sept,” Michael Gartenberg writes for Gartenblog. “The lineup has been changed up and down and it’s a pretty impressive array of products. For those thinking that the iPod has neared and end of life, they couldn’t be more wrong.”

“This is Apple’s most impressive fall lineup that I’ve seen,” Gartenberg writes. “Apple’s reset the iPod line making the different products scale well both in terms of features and price. With the addition to the new social network Ping, Apple further reinforces their position as the leaders in digital music and drives the eco system forward. With the new Apple TV, Apple’s managed to keep the best features of the last generation of devices that should keep existing users happy while driving the product forward with more appeal for the mass market. Overall, it’s an important refresh to the lineup and at the same time sets the stage for a number of interesting directions for the future.”

  1. Interestingly enough, the Classic is still in the store (and not on clearance either). No mention of it today whatsoever! I was absolutely sure it was getting the axe… But then again, I was expecting that Apple will continue the tradition of doubling the capacity of the other iPods, getting the touch up to 128GB, thereby making the Classic unnecessary. I guess not this time…

  2. The amazing Live Video Streaming Quality was really the BOOM Factor and a huge look into the Crystal Ball.

Apple took direct command of it’s Media Presentations and public product release for starters and put the Gizmodo, Engaget and all other tainted blog pundits, spinners and mouthpieces – out of business.

That’s just for starters, from now on, Apple will broadcast direct and in real time. The HD video quality was the best live streaming ever seen. This is just a preview and test of Apple’s future undertakings in this field. Once the farm and cloud goes live, this will be only the tip of Apple’s coming capabilities.

BOOM indeed – Competitors, get your chops up quick, the FUD business is about to get old.

  3. What a fall Christmas quarter Apple is going to have! Simply awesome. All the competitors are dimly seen in Apple’s rear view mirror and fading fast. Just light years ahead of Microshaft with an impossible task to catch up. MS has the talent for guessing wrong while Apple is almost always consistently right. God bless my Apples stock!

Streaming video had glitches and I had to reset a couple of times but I was shocked by how great it looked overall on my iPad.

And wasn’t Steve really looking great today? He looks thin but not emaciated and I think his warm welcome by the audience was acknowledging that fact. Our “iCEO” is getting better all the time. He’s fattening up nicely physically and profitably!

  4. Not if capacity increase was your main thing. The missing $99 4GB Shuffle and lack of doubling of memory capacity on the Touch really bums me out. Only the 16GB NANO, in spite of keeping the same memory limits, is attractive to me. Have an iP4 with a better set of features than the new iPT. So I’ll stick with my 64GB gen 3 Touch until the 128GB MODEL – I hope – shows up next year. Anyone notice nothing was said about the rear camera specs on the new Touch?

  5. There is much “impressiveness” today, I’m most impressed with the new iPod touch. I figured Apple would keep last year’s iPod touch around as this year’s 8GB choice for $199. But instead, the 8GB model at $229 is essentially the same as the more expensive options, except for storage size. The two cameras, A4 processor, gyroscope, and Retina Display. Wow! Awesomeness overload…!
