Apple patent reveals future invisible and light-forming MacBook controls

Apple Online Store“A new patent application from Apple has surfaced this morning that reveals some rather interesting concepts involving the use of both invisible and light-forming device controls,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.

“The good news is that it’s not theory,” Purcher reports. “The technology, in-part, is being utilized in Apple’s new Magic Mouse. The no-button Mouse is what this patent is all about – and yet Apple takes us to the next level of where this could be going.”

Purcher reports, “We could eventually see this technology apply to future iPods, the Apple TV remote and perhaps more importantly, next generation MacBooks – where it really gets interesting.”

  1. Apple’s iPad will one day become a two panel configuration like a real book and then things get really interesting like having the ability to have one side used as a MacBook with an all LED keyboard but switch back to a magazine or whatever for reading as well. This patent points the way.

  2. I was surprised the last time they updated the Classic. I thought surely they’d phase it out for a really large capacity nano or iPod touch.

I’ll be surprised again if they find some non-capacity way to keep it relevant in the face of dropping flash prices.
