  1. You see. iPad is a game changer. It’s going to sell because its truly an innovative product. Bringing the fantasy 2001 A Space Odyssey today, to the masses at a super affordable price. Hear that Thurotted? Who’s the TOOL now?

  2. I had read that BB was getting 15 units for each of the three models being sold . If that is correct, then BB sold over 30,000 units or about 10% of the iPads sold. That is if Apple sold the 300k that is the number that seems to be going around the internets as I have heard.

  3. To Maxi – there are app 683 Best Buys and app 286 Apple stores so if you want one now, and don’t want to wait to get it shipped, you go to the store with the most outlets and are probably closer to where you live and/or work.

  4. This report is false. I bought two 16g ipads at the best buy store in douglasville GA just TONIGHT. and they had at least 12 more boxes in their overstock cages up high on the walls. The best buy kennesaw Georgia store also has them in stock. I bet it’s in stock at best buys in quite a few places. DON’t BELIEVE THE HYPE.

  5. I went to bb Saturday morning because it was the only place near me to have them on launch day (Charlottesville, VA for those wondering). The store received 15 for the 9am opening, then received an additional PALETTE an hour later.

Methinks not all bb received an equal number. But if they all sold out completely, much more than 30,000 were sold at bb locations.

  6. The bb in my area received FIVE of each model and is currently out of stock.. Which is okay.. cause I have mine.. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  7. You guys keep thinking that and keep telling yourself that… but the iPad will not sell after 3 months!

Ps.. Best Buy locations only had 15 per store (some stores didn’t even carry the iPad)…

  8. Well, I guess we all know Sammy is on drugs. All the saw things were said about the iPhone…and? It continues to amaze me just how much people don’t get it. It’s like being stuck in the stone-age or better yet, in there home with no link to the outside world. Do you read? Dude…seriously.

  9. @ET

“Typical US “News” media – hear a rummer and report it as fact without checking.”

Typical internet poster – does not know how the hell to spell “rumor”.

  10. I work at BB. We had 30 of each model on Sat morning and sold kit within 2.25 hrs. We got another shipment today of 10 of each. All were sold out by the time the doors closed.

Am wondering about the BB that have them in stock. It may be that demand is low or it may be that they are holding them back in advance of BB’s big Sunday ad which is to feature the iPad. If it is the latter reason those stores could face a shit-storm from apple which prohibits holding back stock.

Not sure what the Truth is relation to all BB locations, but mine is sold out and there’s still a TON of demand.

  11. This is bullshit. I personally walked into a BestBuy today and they had plenty stock of all three models. There was nobody even playing with the display.

How about you post articles on how many of us can’t connect to our routers with the iPad because of a weak antenna. I am standing right next to my router and I keep losing my connection. It’s really starting to piss me off.

Apple actually released instructions telling us iPad owners to make sure our routers were plugged in and turned on.

    Are you $ucking kidding me?

  12. @BiteMe

I don’t believe a damned word you’re saying. You come across just like a paid flack who’s job it is to trash a competitor’s product.

    … Ballmer is that you?

and the MDN word is “having” as in I’m not having any of your FUD

  13. @bite me

You may want to pick up a router that isn’t from all-a-dollar….or you could just be patient and wait for an update to help your crappy router work. My reception is perfect, the antenna is not the problem, give me a break….or better yet, bite me.

  14. @BiteMe – I help you with the WiFi frustrations. Just send me your iPad and you’ll no longer be pissed about any of it, won’t have to deal with it anymore! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  15. I usually go to an Apple Store or buy from their website. Didn’t pre-order in time, didn’t feel like driving and waiting in the Apple Store line. Best Buy got two shippments on launch day, and I was in and out of there in 5 minutes.

  16. Demand will continue as people see the product in action. When people fly and see someone using it and they’re stuck using a crappy wintel micro clambook. And back to school is going to be a blood bath, especially if text books come to iPad.

  17. You can almost smell the fear when the trolls come around. Less than 2 percent of iPads have some wifi issue or their router does, and now the cry is “crappy thing won’t connect”. Go over to PC World and read posts of sheer hate!
Got to love it. They know all they have is HP Slate. Fear.

  18. @ET what’s a rummer? I’ve heard of rumor, but…

BB SOLD OUT of iPads… oh well, guess we missed it!

Fact check… who is to say BB at one point in time didn’t show in it’s computer inventory records to have zero iPads available. However, good thing for us, manufacturing and todays shipping is a 24 hour operation that allows for constant restocking! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”red face” style=”border:0;” />

  19. I purchased mine at BestBuy because of of Reward Zone membership. The purchase should garner me a nice 10 buck coupon back.
I managed to waltz into my BestBuy at 5:30 in the afternoon to pick my 64Gig iPad up. No lines, no clapping, no crowds. It was as easy as swinging by a deli and picking up milk. Much more expensive of course….

  20. The Best Buy store I bought mine at sold through all 70 they had originally received by Monday morning.

As for the question of why would I buy there instead of the Apple Store…To earn Reward Zone points and also to use up a gift card I got as a Christmas gift.

  21. best buy manager in my town told me they sold out the first day and that they already had a second shipment sold out, and the third shipment was expected today or friday. However the majority of people are asking for release date of the 3g models.

  22. Are you retards serious? The apple forums have hundreds of complaints about Wifi problems.

I bet half you wholes don’t even have iPads. It must suck o be you, but don’t take it out on me.

I find it interesting that this site NEVER reports anything negative about apple products when other apple sites post all apple news bad or good. You have the nerve to call me a troll when half you Kool-Aid drinkers don’t even have an iPad.

For your information, idiots I have a time capsule as my router. Why don’t you get your heads out of your asses and read the apple forums since you are cluless wannabes. Or maybe everyone at the apple forums are trolls too?

    Morons.

  23. Biteme,

oooo…. soooo tough…. you can use words like “idiots” and “morons”……. and why are you calling us “wholes”

and even IF …. there are “hundreds” of complaints on the forums, Apple sold hundreds of THOUSANDS of iPads….. maybe those “idiots” should learn how to use their equipment….

see, I can flame too, its easy when no one knows who you are…

and BTW, this is a pro-mac website. OF Course it’s going to be biased…. I like how random people try to come in here, all angry, and “enlighten us” about the rest of the world, like we don’t know what’s going on…. Most of the people who post here are thoughtful, witty, intelligent (sometimes dirty) and I enjoy reading this site… (and I read it every day!) except when trolls like you come along.

so if you don’t like what you see here, Get lost, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

  24. Unpleasant as biteme and his message may be, the problem with the antenna(?) or signal(?) or SOMETHING is #1 on Apple’s iPad hit list. Over a hundred tickets opened! That’s one for every ~2,500 sold.
The iPad has several “weaknesses” when compared even to a weak netbook. Those were planned. Those let you gain several bonuses that kick the best netbook to the curb. But without your connectivity, you lose much of those benefits.
This will be fixed. By v2.0 at the latest.

  25. sold out and all those silly anti ipad suff I’m reading elsewhere like iPads languishing. Example:

“The actual sales figures might be lower than reported — channel partners might still have product in stock, and Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) stores carrying the iPad are reported to have ample supplies.”

“reports of units languishing on store shelves “

    —-
some people just have these negative thing about iPad (or maybe Apple) and do little research for their articles.

  26. Actually, most of you obsessed fanboys on this site are inarticulate, intolerant of dissent and frankly, rather stupid. Any valid concern or opinion that could interpreted as a criticism in any way gets immediately shouted down, and the poster branded as a “troll.”

And now you want to suggest that I’m the one with the problem because I don’t know how to use the iPad WiFi even though Apple has acknowledged the problem. I suppose that the two iMacs I had to go through that had flickering screens and yellow-glassed displays were also my fault.

There is a difference between being pro-Mac and being retard-Mac. I’ll let you figure out which one you are. You apparently think you are an intelligent, witty, and thoughtful person.

And most of you probably don’t even own an iPad, yet you are siting here trying to be patronizing to those of us who do and are having issues. Get a clue, and maybe actually go buy some Apple products, stop being a fanboy poser and maybe you’ll understand.

  27. @ bite me

oooo…. did I touch a nerve? you take life way too seriously. And if you think your “tough Talk” is going to indimidate me…

And by the way, if you have so many problems with Mac products, why are you posting here. that won’t fix your faulty iMacs. Silly poster.. it’s called Customer Support.. that would be apple.com…

you are a loser, and idiot, a retard, a moron, and a TROLL. And a good troll at that , too. See, you got me to bite TWICE….

oh, and don’t buy any lottery tickets anytime soon, or walk under ladders, or let black cats cross your path. Judging by your Apple experiences, you have very BAD luck. But rejoice, you can always buy a HP Slate…. or a Joo Joo…. etc…..

now, shouldn’t you be fixing that Wifi problem…..
