Analyst: Apple’s actual revenue to blow past guidance this quarter

Apple Online Store“Majestic Research analyst Tony Berkman believes Q2 revenues will be at least ten percent higher than the company’s projection of $11 billion to $11.4 billion,” MacNN reports.

“iPhone demand is said to be particularly strong in the UK, Japan and China,” MacNN reports. “While the Street forecasts average 6.95 million units, Berkman expects the actual outcome to sit closer to 9.1 million. In comparison, December sales were just 8.7 million units.”

MacNN reports, “Majestic expects the Touch to help drive unit sales past 11 million and average selling price (ASP) up to $162. The forecast places Mac sales at 3 million units, with an ASP of $1,251.”

In my office, everybody has an iPhone. The most fugal of humans has broken down and jumped on the iPhone bandwagon. I could not believe my eyes when I witnessed by boss and his wife walk in to the office with a pair of iPhones. This finally proved to me, with out the benefit of doubt, that the iPhone was ubiquitous. It is no longer a luxury item. Everybody, and I mean everybody is getting one. Forget Android. Android is for geeks, and there is simply not enough of them to compete against ubiquitous iPhone.

  2. MDN, lighten up. In all likelihood, Berkman’s intended audience probably thinks Apple is on the verge of going out of business. MDN readers ARE NOT his intended audience.

  3. And now it seems obvious why Apple delayed the iPad release date by one week. If Apple had needed a boost in revenue for this quarter, they would have released it in “late March,” to catch the initial high weekend of sales (including all the non-3G pre-orders) for the current quarter.

Since that additional revenue was not needed for Apple to exceed expectations this quarter, they pushed the release of the iPad back a week, so that all of those initial iPad sales would be included in revenue for next quarter, where they may see a relative drop in iPhone sales, due to the expected summer hardware/software refresh.

How about that that Nexus One?
Laser screen shot looks like something from the movie TRON – circa 1982 – soon to be smited by the sword of High Lord Jobs.
As a moderate long term Apple investor I have choices to make
    Porsche Turbo or Audi R8??

  5. “I don’t get it. Communist with iPhones. Does everone get one?”

You’ve either been asleep for the last decade or never read any real news or current affairs articles. And no, Fox News doesn’t count.

  6. I’ve been to China three times for long visits…China has slowly turned Communism into Capitalism, allthewhile Obama and his Kronies are quickly turning our Capitalism into Socialism. China’s younger generation is literally kicking our butts and we haven’t even yet realized it yet. They study English in grade school also…do we learn Chinese?

  7. “You’ve either been asleep for the last decade or never read any real news or current affairs articles. And no, Fox News doesn’t count.”

In YOUR opinion, and we all know what those are good for. As for THIS writer, I’ll take Fox over Katie Couric and Bill Moyers ANY day. Oh, and the Old Gray Lady (NYT) remains completely and utterly unreliable for anything beyond the Official Progressive Party Line.

    Sorry, but you started it.

  8. “Next, Tony’s going to tell us that water is wet.”

I don’t believe that it can be. It simply causes other objects to be wet. It would be like saying water is damp. Ah, semantics.

  9. Ben Dovet/@Macromancer, if all your news comes from Fox News, then you are woefully under-informed. And, in some cases, MIS-informed. I can understand how you would prefer the axe-grinding of those with a viewpoint similar to your own, but if you consider Couric or Moyers to be “left wing” then you are pretty far out on the unrealistic edge of the far right.
An intelligent person does not listen only to those who agree with them, but to others as well. They may not believe those others are telling “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing BUT the truth”, but they listen.
For example … many years ago the Republicans were in NYC and the “lefties” were marching in protest. Other networks were showing pictures of the march, Fox – whose studios overlooked the march – were saying they didn’t see anything going on … “where’s this MARCH”? Then, right in front of their cameras, some right-wing whack job set a “float” on fire. Suddenly Fox could find the march and had their cameras in place and communications set up. No apology for the previous false reporting. Nothing about the right wing motives of the arsonist. It was justified, after all … bunch of lefties.
I could point out many, MANY, more failures of their “truthiness”. “I can see Russia from my porch”, “the nuclear option”, “death panels”, forget the self-invented “statistics” … but this is the wrong space. The fact is, Communism is just like Capitalism … something you tell the poorer 99% of your population about. The “rich” live in their own little worlds where such words are jingoistic triggers to explain why things go wrong.Study the teachings of Christ if you want to see advocacy of Socialism in full stride. Then look at the legions of “Christians” following Fox News and decrying the “socialist steps” of the President. Remember … you didn’t hear that on Fox.

  10. @ EvangelizeWithRespect,

Another thought: A rock on the beach that is splashed by the waves would be considered wet. But if you placed that same rock at the bottom of the ocean would you still consider it as being wet?

Kinda sounds like a question that would be asked by the late and great George Carlin. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  11. Hmm let’s get back on topic:

This is the first person suggesting Apple will clear 3MM Macs this quarter. I hoping this will be true because it will certainly give them an increase in share in a traditionally slow quarter.

9MM iPhones are also intriguing. That would result in a huge jump in revenue and profit.

BTW No iPad numbers this quarter because it doesn’t go on for sale until April.

Of course this could be part of the ruse to pump up the stock before the earnings or iPad release so the brokers can dump the stock and take their profit.

Or it could be part of the next big surge in Apple stock price. If it makes it to $300 then my stock would have grown 4 times in 5-6 years.

  12. MDN take: “Next, Tony’s going to tell us that water is wet.”

Water in it’s solid form at -40° C/F is definitely not wet.

The sky is not blue at night, at sunrise/sunset, when overcast and during a solar eclipse.

Truisms are often not true at all.
