I have to hand it to her, she had a hand in creating the most secure Windows version to date. That’s no small task given the horrible mess of code she had to work with. Then she gave up and focused on something smaller and easier to make secure within Windows (Firefox), rather than trying to add further duct tape and superglue to hold Windows together as they just kept adding more appendages to their version of Frankenstein’s Monster..

What’s the deal with Al Gore?
I’m OK with people not liking him politically. But he’s been in Apple’s board for how many years now? 5 or so? Maybe more?
And while he was on the board, Apple continued innovating and launching mind-blowing products.
Perhaps he’s not a good politician, but I think he’s OK as board member. At least, there’s no indication he’s done harm to Apple. If Apple retains him, there must be a good reason why.
Nothing to rethink there for me.

Gore’s just become the latest punchbag for those who are trying to find wrong with Apple.
And these days it is hard to find them doing anything wrong. Board of Directors often have non-industry directors to give them another perspective. Also Apple’s changes in environmental responsibility and also the third party manufacturer reviews may have something to do with Gore since he promotes those ethics.
It’s just the pundits trying to manipulate the stocks because that’s the only way they make money. We just have to hope that Apple keep succeeding so that the stock can make another move upwards. I wonder if the iPad release will trigger it?
What do I know about her? Nothing. I wish her the best – because she’s going to work for my favorite company!

She probably took time off for her CISSP. Anyone Apple hires has to go through a hands on interview and demonstrate their skill level. She is a black hat and may possibly have had some undisclosed contract jobs on her resume. I know the interview part because I have known people that interviewed with Apple and after you sign a non-disclosure form they interview you. Any questions?
Now Apple is going to have to contend with angry Tea Party protesters in Cupertino, showing their opposition to her Kenyan heritage… or something…

I have friends that work in Govt Labs and their job description isn’t anything like what they actually do. I just want to know what certs she has. For sure, Apple didn’t hire this specialist because they just wanted to be sure everything is OK – No, there’s problems, probably really big ones, that secretive Jobs-led Cupertino won’t tell us about.
I just hope this gal can resolve them before my ID is stolen and bank account cleaned out as a result of invasion into one of my Macs or its OS or Safari or MobileMe or other things that are suppose to be immune from such attacks.

Al Gore “”Perhaps he’s not a good politician”? Received the most votes overall in 2000, and won the most votes in Florida in that election, once upon a time that was an important criterion in elections. Maybe not the most popular guy in the room, but his nerd cred is unassailable. His stance on the environment is still supported by climate scientists, who might know more about that subject than Hannity or draft-dodger and drug abuser Limbaugh. Finally, Steve Jobs might have a better notion of who contributes more to the board’s expertise than any poster on this forum.

You can’t seriously be suggesting that Microsoft is unaware of, or unfocused on, security issues? It would be interesting to find out how often security is debated at senior level within MS. Apple used the security issue to great effect in their early ads – and in their first anti-Vista ads. I would imagine there is not a single person in Microsoft who is not acutely aware of the damage that continual breaches of Windows security has had, and continues to have, on market perception.
Perhaps your post was badly constructed – if you are going to publicly attack the reputation of a professional you should take more care to provide evidence and avoid the risk of your comments being interpreted as motivated by rascism.

I suspect you are not across the scientific evidence for global warming. Snow storms in the US are entirely compatible with the projections for more extreme weather events. Similarly extreme events are occurring all around the world. If you add energy to any system which contains imbalances (and weather systems all contain imbalances) then those systems tend to oscillate with increasing violence.
I suspect those that are quick to condemn Al Gore are, in fact, rejecting the notion that they may have to rein in their excessive energy consumption. It is interesting to note that Al Gore’s international reputation is as high as ever. Non-Americans are as exposed to his views as Americans – and you won’t find educated people in other parts of the world dismissing his as a fraud…
There is a very reputable science journal, published weekly in the UK. New Scientist. Quality journalism is in short supply in the USA – for a less idealogical and more balanced view on global warming, have a look at http://www.newscientist.com.
