“As part of its smartphone app push, AT&T today also confirmed at its Developer Summit that it will add two Palm phones running webOS to its roster,” Electronista reports.
MacDailyNews Take: Hmm, Palm, Palm… Ah, we remember: Last year’s Nexus One.
Electronista continues, “CEO Ralph de la Vega didn’t provide details of the phones but does say they should arrive in the first half of the year.”
“The news is the first official confirmation of webOS phones in the US outside of Sprint,” Electronista reports.

MacDailyNews Take: iPhone OS devices will be on carriers other than AT&T in the U.S. this year.
Ok Apple, time to bring your legal team out
I agree with MDN take…
Ralph de la Vega: Zorro’s not quite so cool brother?
All this is saying is that AT&T is also abandoning Windows Mobile and replacing it with Android/Web OS.
Regardless of relative blandness of both of those (compared to our JesusPhone), they are both infinitely better than the turd from Redmond.
I also think it is ATT tipping its hand that it knows it won’t be exclusive iPhone carrier for much longer.
M$ is losing license sales left and right. That I like. Even congrats to Dell for avoiding WinMo. Jeez I hope the iPhone goes to T-Mobile.
Interesting that AT&T;is also bring out 5 Android phones in the first half of this year. I guess they are positioning themselves for when their Apple exclusive runs out.
Looks like some company won’t have exclusivity come June….
I was in a local AT&T;store buying a 3gs for my wife. I was amazed at the variety of phones (I purchased mine online). There were 5 people in the store ALL purchasing iPhones!
As I said concerning the Dell phone, what phone maker won’t ATT sell?
How can their physical stores stock all these phones, let alone have sales help that can competently present them to potential customers?
AT&T;is sinking to their true level. They don’t deserve the iPhone, and iPhone users don’t deserve the likes of AT&T;.
How about this quote!?!?!?
NYT:Mr. de la Vega said that AT&T;’s goal was “to get more apps to more customers on more devices.”
“New apps fuel more demand for devices and data,” he said.
wow.
