New Apple Bluetooth mouse and keyboard arrive at the FCC

“Documents released by the Federal Communications Commission Friday show a new wireless mouse and keyboard from Apple, furthering reports of an imminent Mighty Mouse update,” AppleInsider reports.

“Earlier Friday, AppleInsider shared word that a newly designed Mighty Mouse is on the way. The new hardware, people familiar with the matter have said, will do away with the mechanical roller ball and use an expanded touch sensitive housing,” AppleInsider reports.

“Sources said the new Mighty Mouse is a project under the direction of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. It will take advantage of the company’s patented multi-touch technology and provide an intuitive new feel for users through a combination of hardware and software,” AppleInsider reports.

  1. Think virtual mouse / numerical keypad. Make the top surface of the mouse similar to and iPod touch. Bluetooth motion detector while the surface can look and be anything you want.

Also think, accessory / game control unit to AppleTV. Think like an innovative Apple team member.

  2. The thing is, the standard keyboard layout was designed many moons ago –faaaar before the mouse. Do you realize that it’s ergonomically TERRIBLE to have the numerical keyboard on the right? (unless you’re left-handed)

I have the Di Novo which has it separated — though I never actually use it.

I’m glad it’s not on there — most people have no idea!

    Hopefully they’ll offer a separated one…

  3. The problem with mice like this is that you can’t rest your fingers on the touch sensitive area. Welcome, carpaltunnelitis. I’m giving Apple the benefit of doubt, though. If this problem has been somehow solved, the mouse might be something awesome.

Apparently, it is also imminent. No word on snappiness yet, though.
