How can they offer these prices so low? I thought Apple made all retailers be within $5 of their prices, so you would see $1,994 on a laptop that was usually $1,999 from Apple. What gives? How do they do this?
“15.4” MacBook Pro, Glossy Screen, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4GHz, 2GB, 200GB, SuperDrive: Was $1994. Save 34% – $1,299.99″
Well, Waddya know? They finally matched PCConnection/Macconnection prices, with the rebate. Well done MacMall. Next time, I’ll wait a little longer, since I know that they will be forced to drop the prices. Nevertheless, I’m still ahead given the Matted screen – I prefer that for photos.
Macmall did well with this one though, because they also offer software for free. Again, well done. If anyone is on the sidelines waiting for one of these, it may be time to jump in….

Several years ago Apple tied it’s advertising supplemental dollars to the resellers to get them to sell at a consistent price. They didn’t have to sell at the actual list price in order to get advertising dollars from Apple but they had to be close. Apple did this to kill off the “gray market” for Macs.
For a few months a limited number of resellers went against this, but eventually virtually all of them fell in line.
There never has been a contractual obligation to sell at a specific list price.
Clearly, MacMall believes liquidating stock on hand is more important than taking the chance of loosing additional financial support from Apple. Maybe MacMall is having cash flow issues — or maybe they just want to up their sales numbers for some other reason.
MacConnection meets or beats most of these prices, plus Californians don’t pay sales tax, as they do with MacMall…
I wish I REALLY needed a new MacBook Pro!
i’m tired of seeing links to stories claiming “slashed” prices on macs, only to find 5-7% reductions… not exactly what I’d call “slashing”.
We all know that basically, macs don’t go on sale. Stop exaggerating.
stop complaining! it’s better than black friday deal idiot! you can’t find this kind of good deal anywhere.
I am typing this on a G4 I bought in 1999. It is used daily.
I paid $2499 for it. It has generated well over $100,000.
Show me a 10 year old PC that is anything but junk being taken apart in Bangalore.
As for pricing…I bought TWO ipod touches in Seattle (sales tax 9%) for $209 each on Black Friday.
Keep in mind, the Apple Store will match any deal (up to 10%). I know, because I just bought a 15″ and showed them the page from MacConnections.com.
Hoo-rah!
Slashed!! LOL
ONLY $735 for an obsolete POS like a mini!!
Big Mac news on MSNBC TV today…
…saying the iPod is dead because other devices do the same thing, including the iPhone; people can’t afford the newest models/cost and just making do with present devices or using laptops for music steering away from a dedicated music device like the iPod.
Also the cost of filling a iPod with music is out of reach for a lot of people due to the economy.
They said iPod sales at Apple have decreased substantially from last year.
I’m telling you something very important, come early next year the layoffs and business closings will spiral out of control.
Plan on it.
Be afraid…be very afraid! In fact, dead bolt those doors and turn up that MSNBC. Cuz come January it’ll be all you have…
Obama: “Days of ‘pork … as a strategy’ are over.”

HAHAHAHA!!
Take that you Left Wing Democratic Commie Bastards!!!
Obama, leaning more RIGHT EVERYDAY!!
And he’s not even in office yet!!
And the Congress!, Oh Peloski, Dodd and Reed are getting a real taste of running a sound fiscal policy with the auto bailouts instead of the usual tax and spend tactics of the past.
Funny sh*t, we had a republican president who was really a closet liberal, and now we got a bunch of liberals who will be come fiscal conservatives.
What a country.
