“A pair of new patent filings from Apple include suggestions for improving the browsing experience offered through its Safari Web browser, such as a adaptive media support and a visual history tree that more accurately shows users where they’ve been and how they got there,” Sam Oliver reports for AppleInsider.
“Both filings are relatively fresh, having been filed in January and April of this year, respectively, and each are credited to known members of the Cupertino-based company’s Mac OS technology and QuickTime teams,” Oliver reports.
“Of particular interest is the filing for improved navigation history display, which suggests that a user’s browser history be presented in the form of a visual tree diagram tied to a timeline, rather than as a linear list of previously accessed pages that otherwise lacks structure,” Oliver reports.
“In the second filing, Apple looks to solve the problem where Mac users are sometimes prevented from viewing digital media — primarily videos — on the Web because Safari lacks the means required for display of that media in its preferred format… As a solution, the company proposes that Safari examine metadata included with the media item to determine whether the content can be displayed in an alternative format supported natively by the browser, or through plug-ins that could retrieved and installed on the spot,” Oliver reports.

My Fellow Mac-Americans
May I place in Nomination on The Floor this modest proposal:
Unless we want to replicate the bloatware of Windoze, let us NOT engage in political dis-cussions in these forums.
Well, unless you can come up with something short, and sweet, like Mr Fury’s first post waaay up top there.
Ha … good ‘un Nick

p.s.
Which is to say:
IF you can find a way to discuss Politics, or ANY subject, in a manner that all of us know is Apple’s greatest advantage.
IF you can connect ANY subject, even metaphorically, to the ONE thing we all know is why we use Mac/Apple – the very essence of Apple.
Then go for it.
But it better be THIS – what we all know and love.
Simple and Elegant

“Yep, another nonworking bum waiting for Obama to give them a FREE handout…”
actually, there are two incomes in my household, and we are one of those whose taxes will go up when Obama goes in to straighten the mess that Bush has made. but unlike you i have an actual grasp on the facts relevant to what is happening in the world, so i accept that in order to save a great nation we may have to *gasp* pay a little.
in the mean time, whether you like politics in the forum or not, outright lies should (and will if i see them) be called out. i apologize, but the total bullshit story that the right wing of america has made politics into will destroy my country if it isn’t stopped. we all do our part, even if i am only bailing out a teaspoon at a time.
“and we are one of those whose taxes will go up when Obama goes in”
Sure ya are!!
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” /> hahahhaha You’re a typical “Mac” guy… McDonalds…
” to straighten the mess that Bush has made.”
What mess???? Oh, you’re not getting a big enough handout. So you want to elect some socialist who will give you MY money… Geee, I have health care, I have 2 homes, I have 3 cars… What a “mess” Bush created. Hahhahahahahahaha Unlike Scrap like you, I bought them all.. You want someone else to buy the things you think you “deserve”..
Be truthful Shen, you don’t work. You’re a bum who plays on message boards all day and hope a socialist is elected President so you get a FREE ride,,,,
Get a job. Like Kim said, you’re typical Scum…
Too bad there’s not a way to lock this thread. It’s served it’s purpose. Now it’s just a manure throwing contest.
Ever heard about this program,”Celebrate Homes”? A government inspired program urging banks to make RISKY Loans to Illegal Aliens. Now why would a credible bank do such a thing? Why would our government urge and promote such a thing? Why would one of the top recipients of donations from Fannie&Freddie;”The Chamber of Commerce” promote illegal aliens? Could it be the Billions of dollars being sucked off in bonuses after the QUOTAS ARE MADE!!? Could it be the 200 billion given out to political parties and non profit organizations?
ASK YOURSELF WHY BANKS LIKE CITIBANK (NOW IN TROUBLE) WOULD ISSUE CREDIT CARDS TO ILLEGAL ALIENS? greed!! NOTHING BUT GREED AN INFLUENCE…POWER!!
USING Mae&Mack;to buy power!! That is what this is all about!! Political piggy bank!!
Now we are left holding the bag. THEY SAY THEY HAVE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM SO MAIN STREET WILL NOT BE EFFECTED….TAKING $700,000,000,000 off Main Street will not effect us?? WHAT A CROCK by a bunch of crooks.
NO INVESTIGATIONS-NO ARREST AND WHY? THEY Are all dirty including the one pushing this the most….GEORGE W BUSH!!! The whole bunch needs to go to jail or ran out of town!! A personal piggy bank for the political parties!!
This financial crisis is all about one thing, housing. How unqualified people were allowed to obtain home loans they knew they would not be able to get if not for the government forcing banks to loan to such people.
Government wanted people to own homes no matter who these people were, and banks were forced, at gun point, to make such loans possible with a government-backed guarantee.
Wall Street loved the fact they could securitize mortgages and make even more money. Heck, why not, the government guaranteed it fully through Fannie and Freddy.
Bush raised alarm in April 2001, and sought to regulate Government-Sponsored Enterprises (Fannie & Freddy), but guess who stopped him? Barney Frank and Charles Schumer, protectors of Fanny and Freddie.
Greenspan and McCain warned against the GSE bubble, and McCain sponsored legislation to regulate GSEs. Guess who stopped such legislation from getting to the floor of Congress? Barney Frank and Charles Schumer.
What party protected Fannie and Freddy, and who are the top recipients of Fannie and Freddy political contributions? The Democrat party.
If we are to get to the bottom of this mess, we must ask why Democrats failed to regulate GSEs when the alarms were being raised.
Why are Democrats, all of a sudden, on the tube pretending they are working to bail out Wall Street? They are desperate to prevent the public from realizing who is truly at fault.
