“Australian resellers began receiving mysterious packages from Apple on Friday with a warning across the top that breaching the boxes ahead of June 10th would be a violation of their non-disclosure agreements with the company,” AppleInsider reports.
“MacTalk, which posted the [photo on the left] to its forums, notes that June 10th in Australia is actually around the same time of Apple chief executive Steve Jobs’s June 9th WWDC keynote in the US. The site adds that it believes the boxes contain a single demonstration 3G iPhone to be displayed by the resellers immediately following the company’s announcements,” AppleInsider reports.
“Earlier this year, the Australian Apple fan site published a report in which it said that local resellers had started to receive guidance from the Cupertino-based company regarding a local 3G iPhone launch during the final week of June,” AppleInsider reports.

Amazing, Apple got through the day without any leaks.
10 June in almost the entire “rest-of-world” in fact. I’ll never understand why America saddles itself with bass-ackward strange things like inches, ounces, gallons, ells, ems, points, quarto…the list never ends. I mean ,wasn’t it sensible enough to launch itself with a decimal currency? So why quote stock prices and other things in fractions?
“Won’t somebody please think of the midgets?”

@ grh
Stock prices aren’t in fractions any more.
If I saw that I would rip it open sooooo fast.
Just open the box already!!!
it was inevitable… inevitable… inevitable
BREAKING NEWS:
Kathy and Woz broke up.
C1: I guess he got tired of the red carpet treatment.
Why in the WORLD would Apple send out a package with an NDA warning and a Do Not Open Until date?
Agreed. If you want to keep something under wraps, you don’t write <b>”TOP SECRET! DO NOT OPEN!”</i> all over it.
Apple’s logistics are FAR better than that.
The packages will show up via overnight delivery, just as Steve is making the announcement.
Or perhaps Woz couldn’t handle the mind of a cougar with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle.
chrissy one:
perhaps Schrodinger’s cat’s inside -> that’s how they’ll know if you’ve opened the box…
Marlin Perkin’s ghost just got an erection.
The actual shipment of new iPhones was marked “New iPod Socks”.
America’s June 10th makes FAR MORE SENSE than 10 June or 10/6. 10/6 looks like it’s June of 2010. DD-MM-YYYY makes NO SENSE if you read left to right. The day has NO context without the month and likewise the Year. Ideally, it SHOULD be written: 2008 June 10, or 2008-06-10. This is how they do it in Japan and China.
I can’t stand it when people get all high and mighty putting America down for using m/d/y when it makes more sense than the retarded d/m/y used in Europe and Oz.
After all, when you tell someone the time, do you start with seconds? 5(sec):10(min):3 O’clock. NO! It’s 3:10:05
DISCLAIMER: I’m not American, nor do I live in the US.
perhaps Schrodinger’s cat’s inside
That’ll be Mac OS X 10.7

They cannot, however, prove that you have opened a box.
They can’t prove if anyone opened a box, but they could make things difficult for the recipient (and NDA holder) when someone powers up a new phone early.
Nobody could just let those new phones sit in an opened outer box, could they?
As I have said before, no one has seen the new iPhone because they are all sporting a removable Zune shell. That’s how its done.
@dallas:
Yes, you missed some:
1. iPhone 2.0 software
2. iTunes iPhone app store
3. Thousands of new apps waiting to be downloaded to your iPhone
4. Full Exchange support
To all of you wondering:
“Why in the WORLD would Apple send out a package with an NDA warning and a Do Not Open Until date?”
Uh, because normally boxes received by employees at the Apple Store are opened and shelves are restocked. If you don’t want them opened, you say so!
Also, any employees who open the boxes and are caught (which they will be, because managers will be watching those boxes closely), will be fired and possibly subject to violation of the NDA, which could include monetary fines.
Good luck finding another retail job when the reason you were fired from the Apple Store is because you violated your NDA.
Why would they that nice professor’s cat in the box? Is it a Leopard?
@ApplePi
Your chocie of time was a bit questionable what about 3:50:00 or 8:40:00?
Most people would say “it’s ten to four” or “It’s twenty to nine”.
Not many people include the seconds, if it is traditional in a community to express things a certain way, so be it.
I think that you should read this article on Wiki. You might learn from it, I did.

Date and Time notation
I think the American way of mm/dd/yyyy notation is weird, but hey, I ain’t going to call it retarded.
Besides, “… I’ll never understand why America saddles itself with bass-ackward strange things like inches, ounces, gallons …” (grh) is hardly a case of “…high and mighty putting America down…” (ApplePi).
However low-tech units of measurements like: fahrenheit – inches, feet, miles – ounces, pound, tons, gallons etc, are indeed low-tech, it’s a fact, not necessarily a ethnocentric dig, like your one about Europe and Oz.

Makes me feel confused. Apple will do something about it if it’s a fake anyway.
@ PT
Uncertainty Principle Inside™
It’s a fake. Completely bogus.
Where’s the carriers tag? Believe me this wasn’t delivered with just a postage stamp on it.
And when was the last time Apple used a shipping label that looked anything like this? Stuck on the BOTTOM of a package.
Nice try. Maybe you’ll sucker us next time…
