“Sources tell us that Apple is seriously negotiating for the entire 12,500-foot building at 23 Wall St.,” Lois Weiss reports for The New York Post.
“Located at the iconic corner of Wall and Broad streets, the small granite building nicknamed “The Corner” was developed by the financier J.P. Morgan and, after its completion in 1914, served as J.P Morgan and Co.’s headquarters,” Weiss reports.
“It’s now an empty building connected to its tall residential and luxury condominium neighbor at 15 Broad St., which has an Hermes shop on the Broad Street side, facing the New York Stock Exchange,” Weiss reports.
“The building still bears some scars from a bomb hidden in a horse drawn carriage – that rocked Wall Street on Sept. 16, 1920,” Weiss reports. “While over $1 billion in gold sat inside the Assay Office across the street, the Morgan property at 23 Wall took the brunt of the noontime blast, which killed 30 people, and wounded hundreds more. Foreign terrorists were suspected, but the exact target was never identified.”
Weiss reports, “It has tremendous windows that we’re sure Apple CEO Steve Jobs will enjoy illuminating with neon Apple logos.”

They could call the store AWall (AWOL), short for Apple Wall Street.
The stores in New York don’t only serve the population there (over 8 million) but a huge number of foreign tourists who can almost cover the costs of their trip when they buy their Macs and iPods in the U.S.
Remember, all Apple products cost about 50% more in Europe.
….. and the $ is cheap.
If they do purchase the building and install an Apple Store, they should have LeBron James – 23 – at the Grand Opening, and doing a few Apple ads.
A legendary, iconic space for a legendary, iconic brand/company and a world-famous address.
Go for it!
Peace.

“R_LA is a troll” No, what I’d like to do to the lot of you is Rick Roll you!
I’ve been a Mac user on and off for little over ten years. I’m a native New Yorker. I’ve also lived in NY for most of my life and have been in LA for 3yrs. So shut your little yuppie mouths. Couldn’t stand wana-be NY yuppies then, can’t stand you now.
The majority of the people that work at the Apple stores haven’t a fucking clue what the HeLL they’re talking about. And if you talked to them for about 3 min you know that also.
This show of extravagance is unnecessary and what Apple should do is save it’s billions instead of waste it on another glass and steel structure. Steve continues making the same fucking mistakes over and over. This jag-off never learns.
I’m done with the cool-aid. Continue to buy their hardware but not believe in teh Steve like I did.
Look-it, I’m thinking differently.
MDN word of the day: twenty “I lost preciouses time in my twenties listening to teh Steve”
“Steve continues making the same fucking mistakes over and over. This jag-off never learns.”
Yeah Steve Jobs just doesn’t have the skills. R_LA on the other hand has passed Steve in every aspect in life
R_LA is drinking more then “cool-aid”
Kool-Aid for people with any amount of brain function.
“preciouses”..??
OK, I guess you are a true New Yorker. Any chance you folks in NY will ever get a working education system?
Why the comments on R-LA’s spelling and not his grammar? His sentence structure is far worse then his spelling.
Seriously? start correcting RLA’s grammar? Who has THAT MUCH time?
There might be a limit to how long a post can be left here.
