  1. Oh yeah. When the diddie comes to your iMac… yay Java! But when Sun wants to port Java to the iPhone you’re all like “no way!”.

You guys are like women. Nuts.

(i’m downloading it right now too … eeeee!)

  2. Wha’s not Ronaldo. Wha is Wha. I need be here as reality check for all of the minions that appear on MDN. I have no false slant for I am always right. Everything I say is plain simple fact… and my wife has nuts so I don’t understand what you people are getting at.

  3. Ummm I find it interesting it is Intel only.

Is this the start of the end for PPC Support from Apple? My G5 works great and handles everything I throw at it..

They’ve gotta keep updating things in the PPC end of OS X..

    Makes me wonder…

  4. “They’ve gotta keep updating things in the PPC end of OS X..”

Did Steve Jobs, in the keynote where he talked about the switch to Intel, say anything on how long they were planning on supporting the PPC platform? You oughta find that keynote.

  5. The update is for Intel Core2Duo’s only. Not Power PC’s, and not Intel Core Duo’s. The default is still Java 5, but will run Java 6. I’ve read a report saying Safari presently doesn’t support Java 6 (because it’s 32-bit).

  6. “I’ve read a report saying Safari presently doesn’t support Java 6 (because it’s 32-bit).”

There’s a warning note in Leopard’s Java Preferences utility. If you select Java 6 in Java Preferences (after installing), a note next to the selection tells you that apps in Safari will default back to Java 5 because it is only 32-bit compatible.
