Apple releases Apple TV 2.0.2 Update

Apple has released Apple TV 2.0.2 Update.

The update offers no details on either Apple’s Website or the Apple TV itself, so we are assuming it to be a minor update with bug fix(es).

Apple TV 2.0.2 Update can be obtained by using Apple TV’s Settings>General>Update Software command. Users will then see a “Software updating” message and after a few minutes (3 minutes via fast cable modem in our case) the user will be presented the choice “Update now” or “Update later.”

Choosing “Update now” leads to a restart, then approximately four Apple logo flashes, an Apple logo with a progress bar, then about 5 more logo flashes and finally the short Apple TV intro movie.

Users who navigate to Settings>General>About will see their Apple TV software has been upgraded to 2.0.2.

  1. I haven’t heard any one comment, but when I updated to 2.0.1

The little trick with the 24 hour rental went away

Before with 2.0.0 if you started watching a movie, and paused it till you had time to finish, it would still be there

when I went to 2.0.1, they leave after 24 hours

we rented 9 movies before, would start to watch when kids in bed, then finish the next night, I can’t do that now, really need at least 48 hours to finish

  2. I know it was late Monday, but hey, maybe someone pushed the Tuesday Update button by accident on Monday, thus yielding an update release that doesn’t do anything? Now they have to wait another week before hitting that Apple Tuesday Update button again. LOL

  3. Wahoo! Genres work right now in My Movies. Rather than showing a list of every possible combination of genre for movies with multiple genres, it now shows a list of standard genres and properly displays a list of movies for that specific genre. Thank you Apple.
