Apple to unveil iPhone SDK plans on March 6

Apple today announced that they will unveil their iPhone SDK plans on March 6, including tools for third-party developers and some “exciting new features” aimed at businesses.

Apple’s invitation to the media reads:

Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features.

MacDailyNews Note: Back in October, Apple CEO Steve Jobs posted an open letter that stated in part, “Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February.” For those keeping score, if the iPhone SDK is delivered on March 6 (not just discussed along with an announcement of a later release date), Jobs was off by six days.

  1. Do you think that Rick James could cram, French Lick, Indiana; Blue Ball, Pennsylvania; Intercourse, PA; Big Bone Lick, Kentucky; Dildo, Newfoundland; and Climax, Michigan; into a song?

    I’d bet he could do it in sixty-nine minutes ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  2. Peter does have a point. Maybe it’s just the skeptic in me but the press release could be read that Apple will be holding a talk about it’s roadmap, the SDK, and “exciting new enterprise features.” – which will be released within x number of months.

I hope that I am wrong and Apple RELEASES the SDK and other features as soon as the event ends (if they haven’t already done so as some posters have already suggested). Looking forward to March 6th.

    Peace.

So you’re saying you can be both late and on time? Come on – that’s like being a little bit pregnant.

It is precisely this “black and white” thinking that the market uses to calculate value. On time = good. Late = Bad. Welcome to the real world.

Of course I agree with you that the release is late. Where I disagree is your draconian analysis of the impact of being late. Your example of “being a little bit pregnant” shows the limitations of your thinking. If you think that being six days late is the same as being pregnant…. Well, enough said.

  5. SIX DAYS?! That’s an eternity… God created the entire universe in six days… Steve Jobs should have been able to do the same! Oh, the humanity… it’s a disaster!

Besides… The iPhone SDK was in the hands of some developers in February: the SDK developers…
