“By now you’ve heard that under ‘normal’ usage, the Air can only manage about 2.5 hours of battery life. That’s true and at the same time it isn’t. I touch on part of this in the review, but the MacBook Air isn’t designed to be your work notebook – no ultra portable is. It’s a notebook for a writer, for someone taking notes in class; it’s a second notebook, or a third system. As such, the typical usage model can be very different than your standard notebook,” Anand Lal Shimpi reports for AnandTech.
“At the same time, most of the people considering the Air aren’t looking at it as a second notebook or a third system, they are looking at it as their primary notebook (and will be left sorely disappointed or frustrated after a while). The end result is that you need a handful of battery life tests to really cover all bases. And that’s what I’ve done,” Lal Shimpi reports.
Lal Shimpi’s tests revealed:
• 4.27 hours for wireless Internet browsing and MP3 playback
• 3.42 hours for DVD playback
• 2.43 hours for Xvid playback, Web browsing, and heavy downloading

Wow, this thread has me fully Energized.
Maybe even overcharged.
Zapped?
This thread is becoming static and is running into the ground. It is time for that dynamo Ampar to zap back into action and thrill us with yet another pun as he has LED this discussion so far.

Agree that Ampar should take the lead.
I’m depleted.
Peace.
Waaayyyyy too much time on your hands folks!!!!
A faraday keeps the circus away
“This thread is becoming static . . .”
Dam! And I was trying to stay insulated from it. I’m sure some dynamo is cable of more. Boy, if only I had a nickel . . .
You know watt? My sibling had a sex change. She is now my ….
wait for it……
transistor!
Groan!
Apmar…don’t insulate yourself or you will overheat. Hell, come up and visit me. It sure is cold up here at the North Polarity.
That last message was for Ampar’s dyslectic brother. However, AMPAR is invited to visit me at the South Polarity.
“transistor”
C’mon! That’s funny!
I got a charge out of it

Well, I’m sure that article will recharge the spirits of Air owners. They know now they can play their AC/DC MP3s without a worry.
“Next they are going to tell us that it only works in certain time zones and has to be held at certain angles, the moon phase has to be right….”
Actually it works best when you place it in your room in your mother’s basement among your collection of Apple hardware and whack off while looking at it’s sleek lines. Then it’s battery lasts a long time.
Just don’t try to use it as replacement for an ultra-portable notebook.
