“On Thursday night, Kathryn and I unboxed my latest Ebay acquisition: an Apple IIc,” Dan Budiac writes on Flickr.
Budiac writes, “There are many vintage Apple II computers available for auction, but this one is special: It’s never been opened. Ever. It hasn’t seen the light of day since before it was shipped on May 5th, 1988.”
“I wrestled with whether I should open the box, or store it and let it accrue collector’s value. In the end, I decided that the reason for my purchase wasn’t financial,” Budiac writes. “My very first computer was an Apple IIc, and I can’t see wanting to part with this computer, ever.”

Does it come with phone support?
still have my IIc. It still works too! It is a great little computer. I have some of the games for it too, there were alot of games for the Apple II platform.
But how snappy is it?
i picked one of those up at a thrift store for $1 a few months ago. no box, but it’s a neat old computer.

For only $2,499 more, you get the box.
Mmm greener days, before the evil empire.
Sorry getting a bit nostalgic..
Played many hours of Taipei on a IIc. Loved that game.
It’s kind of neat that it’s been sitting around unused for 20 years. It’s even cooler that it actually ran.
But for $2500 I’d have purchased a new iMac Extreme and found a good used IIC.
I hope you have fun with it though….I can tell by the smile on your face you’re pretty happy with the new toy.
I remember seeing an ad for this in a magazine back in high school. I wanted it bad. But my parents bought me a Compaq Deskpro Model 2 instead with its two floppy drives and 256K memory.
The only thing I remember about the IIc is playing two games–One On One with Larry Bird and Dr. J and Wizardry by SirTech. Those were the salad days…
Blast from the Past-
“Salad” is a euphemism for pot?
Cause that’s what we called it.
hee hee
Man….not turned on in all that time….I bet a paper capacitor explodes in there somewhere. I would rather buy one already open and known to work.
