If you really want to know where the name comes from, I’ll tell you.

When I signed up for HotMail a bazillion years ago, I tried (a bit naively) to get Chrissy@hotmail.com. Those were the early days of Hotmail, but not THAT early, so of course I didn’t get it. They had a screen that gave you alternate suggestions, and they were things like “chrissy2758”, etc. I’ll be damned if I’m going get in line behind 2757 other “chrissy”s, so tried ChrissyOne and it worked. I used it everywhere after that and it was always available.

Yea, you’re probably right. But, I get to be here too, unless MDN spikes me.

And, guess I should also say thanks to her for putting me onto Carbon Copy Cloner – great app!

You see, my problem is this: I’m interested in one thing and one thing only:

Best, fastest, most reliable, secure, robust, and totally stable Mac Pro that Cupertino can produce and I don’t want to have to wait through Steve’s mindless marketing manipulation to get it.

And, same thing for Mac Book Pro, oops, that’s two things.

I could absolutely not care any less about cutsy music players and fun phones. I hate those things – they are sucking the life from Apple’s reason for being.

    Do I make myself clear?

  3. Zune, you’re lucky… i had to send My xbox 360 in for the second time… oh, wait! I’m lucky too! Microsoft is paying for it! Again!
I’m so glad they set that 1.5 billion aside for that up to date, great product repair!

  4. Peterson,

Yeah, I hear ya loud and clear. I agree. Apple probably does play us like puppets with all the incremental upgrades. I’ve been wanting them to come out with a tower model that would compare to a decent PC rig for some time. I mean, it wouldn’t have to have SLI or CrossFire, but at least accept a modern graphics card.

The MacPro is alright for a workstation. But how many of us need or want that? We don’t need dual processors or fully buffered RAM. Dual or quad cores and standard RAM are just fine.

At least if you’re a gamer you can build your own and use XP.
But I guess we will just have to take what they throw to us.

But I must disagree about the iPod and iPhone. Whether you approve or not, these products have given Apple a vast amount of influence and power. I don’t know where the company would be today without them. They might not exist, at least not as an independent corporation.

Only the future will tell. Come on MacWorld Expo.

“You’re saying Apple does this!? Have you seen, uh, the last million updates to Vista, which was basically a gigantic horribly delayed rush job?”

You can always spot a “noob” by the way he responds to Zune Tang©

Thanks ZT for fleshing out the new guys!

  6. Stacks are only useless in their default configuration. If you drag your Applications folder to the dock, you have quick access to all your applications without having to go through Finder. Ditto for the Utilities folder.

Also, if you use the terminal command: defaults write com.apple.dock mouse-over-hilte-stack -boolean YES
then icons in your stacks get an awesome mouse-over effect.

    If you use the terminal command: defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add ‘{ “tile-data” = { “list-type” = 1; }; “tile-type” = “recents-tile”; }’
then you get a “Recent Applications” stack that shows you your 10 most recent applications. Very useful if you’ve got a gigantic Applications folder like I do.
