Carphone Warehouse expects 10,000 Apple iPhones sold in first 4 hours of UK launch

“Europe’s largest mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse PLC expects to sell 10,000 Apple Inc. iPhones on launch day in the U.K, an executive said Thursday,” Daniel Thomas reports for Dow Jones Newswires.

“The retailer, which will begin selling the iPhone on Nov. 9 in the U.K., hopes to sell 10,000 iPhones in four hours across its national store network,” Thomas reports.

“The phone, which will be exclusive to Telefonica O2 customers in the U.K. will also be sold in Apple and O2 stores, and will go on sale at 6.00pm local time,” Thomas reports. “Carphone didn’t disclose how many extra phones would be sold via O2 and Apple.”

  1. I won’t be buying a iPhone at Carphone Warhouse as recent experence has told me not to. Why? All I wanted to do was a buy a phone priced at £59.99 (o2) and then the wanted to charge me £69.99 because I didn’t have my old sim card with me to upgrade and keep my old number and then wanted to charge me £99.99 to buy the phone with no sim card at all. So I won’t one of the 10,000. So I’ll will be going to Apple to buy

  2. Well I did the smart thing and got an iPhone from the US and unlocked it. Cost me £215 including a pack of screen protectors.

Now the 1.1.1 unlock is so easy to do I wonder how many will be bought for other networks?

I’m very glad that it’s finally here though as it means I can buy some of the accessories that I want namely the Bluetooth headset and dual dock that is priced at £79. I thought it would be more than that over here…

Only 1 more week of being the only one I know to have one though 🙁
