“With its iPhone scheduled for release toward the end of June and the Leopard operating system pushed out until October, Apple’s fiscal second-quarter earnings report on Wednesday could be relatively quiet,” Priya Ganapati reports for TheStreet.com. “But it will be the lull before another consumer-assault storm.”
“Apple’s most talked-about release in the last three months has been Apple TV, a wireless box that can stream movies, TV shows and music from a computer to a television,” Ganapati reports. “Apple TV was released in February — too late to have much of an impact on the second quarter.”
Ganapati reports, “However, Apple also announced earlier this month that it has now sold 100 million iPods, leading analysts to believe that iPod sales could be better than expected and boost second-quarter results. ‘I think they will report a slight upside to the consensus revenue and EPS,’ says Romeo Dator, co-manager of the U.S. Global Investors All American Equity Fund, which has Apple among its top 10 holdings.”
“Dator expects a ‘slight beat’ to expectations of iPod sales of 10.7 million, while Mac sales are likely to be in line with the consensus of 1.45 million sold,” Ganapati reports. “For the quarter, the analysts polled by Thomson First Call estimate a profit of 64 cents a share and revenue of $5.17 billion.”

My prediction… 1.5 million Macs sold and 10 million iPods. A very solid quarter despite the lack of many upgrades.
its about future guidance – look at amazon – unreal up alomst $9. We need apple to go up 20% after earnnings. Apple needs to mange the guidance a little better.

Perhaps, Sum. But I think the Mac mini out of all of them needs some refreshing. And some more advertising. The Mac/PC guy ads only show the iMac briefly at the end. (The TV ad is pretty good.)
No Squirt, I’d agree that the mini is due for an update/overhaul. Everything else is still current IMO, especially since many of them have been updated (C2D, etc).
I expect to see a 6G iPod a few months after the iPhone launch as well.
Apple Inc. posted revenue of $5.26 billion and net quarterly profit of $770 million, or $.87 per diluted share.
Apple shipped 1,517,000 Macintosh® computers and 10,549,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 36 percent growth in Macs and 24 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter.
“The Mac is clearly gaining market share, with sales growing 36 percent—more than three times the industry growth rate,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re very excited about the upcoming launch of iPhone in late June, and are also hard at work on some other amazing new products in our pipeline.”
“We are very pleased to report the most profitable March quarter in Apple’s history,” said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s CFO. “Looking ahead to the third fiscal quarter of 2007, we expect revenue of about $5.1 billion and earnings per diluted share of about $.66.”
I guess the lack of hardware updates didn’t hurt any eh?
