  1. MBP will come out in May, ahead of WWDC. Intel estimates that 30% of laptops sold in Q2 (until end of June) will be Santa Rosa based. The percentage will go up to over 50% in Q3 and 90% in Q4. Now, Intel will release SR on May 8, but the manufacturers will have the chip earlier. On May 8 everyone who has ordered SR early enough can release their products. There are already SR notebooks being tested in Cupertino.

Apple also seems to have a special deal with Intel. The release of 8 core Mac Pro with the 3Ghz chip, the first of this kind, tells a lot.

On May 8 (Tuesday) Apple will release the new SR MBP. June will see MB updated.

Now the question remains whether Apple will update screens in their MB line to higher resolution to make them Leopard friendly. Apple has just confirmed that Leopard will introduce resolution independence and higher dpi screens would be sweet. Maybe until Leopard they would be set to opeate in different than maximum/native resolution.

  2. Let’s see here…

    Apple TV announced/shipping.

    iPhone announced.

    Eight core Macs just announced.

    Final Cut Studio 2 announced.

Wow, they must have a lot of great stuff coming for WWDC if they have already told us about this stuff, and they are still booking three hours!

MW: Distance. Apple is placing themselves at a level of quality that is a much farther distance from M$ than what they already are.
