Rogers to offer Apple iPhone exclusively in Canada

“I finally heard back from Rogers (Canada’s largest wireless carrier) and can relay that Rogers will in fact be offering the iPhone in Canada,” Andrew Escobar reports on his blog.

Escobar reports, “Apple and Rogers have already had talks over the iPhone and must have already come to some sort of agreement for Rogers to boldly state it will be the exclusive carrier in Canada.”

“Rogers is actively working with Apple to launch the iPhone in Canada as soon as possible and will be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in Canada,” Escobar reports. “Launch date and pricing for Canada are not yet available.”

  1. @zerO – is that your IQ?

As you jumped right in, uninvited, and had a go at scotland, i have a thought for you.

Why don’t you shut the fuck up with your half assed parochial and blinkered outlook.

“Yes scottland your present attitude towards any member of this forum can be construed as insulting” … What are you? a Nazi.

    Just step off.

  2. Well Apples and Pears, I think that Tom Strong must have been aware that “rogers” means making love vigorously, hence the comment. I suspect Tom must come from one of those countries that likes to make war vigorously, the slang term possibly being “americanize”.

  3. Thats great for us apple fans who work for Bell. Oh well, thanks Steve, you just pissed off a mac supporter.

Its nice that Bell and Telus cover 100% of my Province and Rogers covers 20% woot woot.

  4. @ZerO…I realize you are trying to make nice but you have to realize that there are two things you do not fsck around with…people’s mother or their country. Best just to out and out apologize or leave it alone.

Canadian’s are a little sensitive at the moment because of the US ambassodor telling us who the fsck do we think we are off telling the US about the screw-up they did (we screwed up too) on Arar case (the US sent an innocent Canadian citizen to Syria where he was tortured for a year before our Gov’t got him back). Our PM almost popped a vein and now a man who was a friend of GW, is now pissed….big time.

Congrats…another arrogant attitude has caused a friendly pro-US conservative gov’t to turn against it. Sigh….just like children squabbling.

Oh, BTW…I use Rogers here in Montreal. My money is saved up for a nice shiny iPhone ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  5. Hey, all you big men whining about “defending” your country, just ease up. How many of you have “defended” your country for real–i.e., served in your nation’s military? I don’t mean to criticize anyone who hasn’t, but just perhaps you’re overdoing the assaults on a fairly innocuous comment about a company’s name; are you compensating for something?

  6. Hello Kate:

There are many more ways to “defend” a country than by just serving the military. I am thinking particularly about the many women who made a very strong contribution to the allies during WW2 by going to work in the factories and supporting the troops across the seas.

The situation is no longer about defending a country however, it is about defending the world from a small group of countries, notably those from the Axis of Evil and the Axis of AENUS (Australia, England n United States).

It permeates every issue right now, down to global drowning.

  7. @road warrior

You made a much nicer (read diplomatic) response than mine. You described my mom exactly…she worked in a high risk job on the armament assembly line during WWII. The stories of the numerous people around her getting seriously injured due to flash fires due to gun powder were horrible, yet that didn’t slow them down. My father was in the RCAF and I grew up on the air force base.

My anger is a knee-jerk reaction when I read posts like Kate’s. I guess I get less tolerant of this crap as I get older.

  8. Well it is a rarity that one of my responses is interpreted as diplomatic, but then again you, like me are members of one of the free world countries.

Those women indeed made as much of a sacrifice and effort during WW2 as the men, in my opinion.

I don’t know where Kate is from, but she strikes me as a typical woman from the AENUS alliance, which I think is a driving force to get their men to Iraq…anything to get away from their whining.

I salute you Sir for the dedication your family has contributed to the free world.

    Especially since we remember.

  9. Buster,
My apologies, I have no country nor cause to defend, i don’t believe in that concept; To me it is one rounded earth and we are in it, from space you can’t see political, racial nor religious divisions, on a clear day you can see the occasional SKY LARK imbecile, other than that is a beautiful place – you seem like sensible person and I mean no il by my commentsl -sorry

  10. @ zerO

Thats better, see discussion is always a better road to travel down, on a clear day.

But my friend, there are many causes and rights to defend and fight for. to list a few –

Amnesty International, Animal rights, Civil rights, Climate change (whatever the reason), Discrimination, Genetic engineering, HIV/AIDS, Human rights, Homelessness, Lesbian Gay and Bisexual rights, Media ethics and accountability, Minimum wages, Poverty, Racism, Welfare … blah blah, the list goes on and on, pick one. Do something.

You can’t see the political, racial nor religious divisions because your romantic head is in the sand, and while it’s there, people, animals and the environment all over the world are getting screwed over in horrific, repugnant and disgusting ways, aided and abetted by apathy and daydreamers.

    yours faithfully
    Imbecile

  11. Whoa, cool down folks. We went from defending cell phone company names to defending our countries and our passions. The fact we are all in the small minority of the world that consumes the majority of the world’s resources gives any of us little justification for lording it over each other. Only the world’s rich scrap over cell phone bells and whistles.

The big companies some we defend have no loyalty to any country. They’re interested only in creating a political climate to maximize profit. To that end, they exert as much control as possible on the political agendas of every western country, Canada & US included. The purpose of war is primarily to protect their right to make as much money as possible. We think we fight for freedom, but that’s the illusion they create. Proof: notice who is making a bundle from Iraq…

And on a lighter note, Rogers may be a goofy name for a company, but America comes from the first name of Amerigo Vespucci, an Itailan explorer. US of America is hardly different from the US of Susan or the Dominion of Bill… or whatever.
