Heh, I’m a big fan, too.
I’ll wait for the youtube link
can’t stand it being asked to upgrade to see advertizing
sabotage is amazing, subtle and funny in an english sort of way.
I don’t understand what they’re getting at in “Sabotage.”
i dont get the sabotage ad. i’ve been playin with the dumb stick this morning.
will someone explain that to me, please?
Sabotage is about minimizing Apple’s surge in popularity by making a mac look like he’s a slacker, not hip and up and coming. PC is behind the whole scheme. It’s an add about FUD.
I LOVE “Tech Support”, makes me laugh every time.
Tacky, bolted together, no thought. That’s your typical PC. My Dull box in work vibrates, causing the metal casing to make strange noises. It also sounds like a jet engine when a Virus Scan is running.
I hook my PowerBook up next to it and it makes me smile every time. A 2 year old Mac still looks way better than the Dull POS which is less than a month old.
sabotage |ˈsabəˌtä zh |
verb [ trans. ] deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct (something), esp. for political or military advantage.
Fred,
Its just highlighting that there are some PC users who secretly desire the Apple computers, but are in denial about it and say half-heartedly that their PC is great, the best, “first-class”, etc
Very subliminal message cleverly done. I like it

Jim,
Have you noticed that the latest Dell Workstations have a front grille thats perforated, just like a Powermac? And yet they still can’t get it to look half as nice.
OK, so the “Mac” is a buddy of the PC guy, to try and sell more PCs with FUD, and then the real Mac comes back in…..
Oh never mind: if you have to explain the joke then it’s dead already.
sabatoge-
funniest point to me is at end when fake PC grudgingly admits to being a fan (like an envious IT dept. head, who must publicly bash mac to keep his job-but secretly feels otherwise)
The first impression I had when seeing the “sabotage” ad was that it was a parody of the MS Zune vs. Ipod spoof that MS did back in December. http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/11948/
But then I went back and watched that piece again and realized that Apple wasn’t thinking that way at all. Sabotage is just a well done funny ad.
mw=’ran’. Past tense of the word in the dictionary with the most definitions.
“Sabotage” is good but probably a bit too subtle for a lot of PC users.
Sabbotage… the FUD-buster. Don’t believe what you hear from the PC zealots. They won’t tell you about the “real” Mac. Watch out for disinformation.
Very brilliant to attack you detractors in such an innocuous and humorous way.
I’m liking it
I love this campaign.
Did anyone else notice this is a change for Apple and I say it’s about freaking time. It’s in the last 4 seconds of the tech support ad.
Now bring out the OSX stuff so the population at large will see others attempts at copying.
What you talkin’ about, Chip Finch???
Finally, two of these crappy ads that actually made me laugh.
re: Chip Finch
I went back to have a look and I wonder if you that the Tech / IT guy doing the upgrade doesn’t chase after the PC, but instead STAYS with the Mac!
MW: basis – the basis on which IT guys are not chasing PCs anymore is that they are too much trouble and the Mac next to him is easy to work with (because he doesn’t have to upgrade something when it’s built in)
My 2p
I love it as PC is mouthing the words as “Mac” stumbles thru his script. This is funny.
My Bad!
I watched the video from MDN and it ended with the instant video chats info. I checked out the adds on Apple.com and the add ends with the typical iMac. I wish they would promote the software as in show me the money “Software” since Apple uses it’s software to sell hardware. Yes Apple puts more into their hardware than the others and it shows “by far” but the software is where it’s at IMHO. Sorry for not doing my homework.
As most of you already know, a message for the Windows PC users who are unaware of the benefits of using a Macintosh (I’m old school; I proudly go back to the Macintosh 128K): “It’s the software, stupid”. M$, Dell, etc. can try to copy the look of MacOS X and the Mac Pro’s case, but there’s nothing like the seamless integration of OS, software and hardware that comes with every genuine Mac!
This is getting to be too cute. Time to can the series and change over to some substance.
