“For Apple enthusiasts and tourism officials, the annual Macworld Conference and Expo in San Francisco is an event they eagerly await. But for many car commuters, it’s four days of traffic-choked streets and scarce parking that they dread,” Michael Cabanatuan reports for The San Francisco Chronicle. “‘It’s a hassle,” said Brian Souza, 24, a San Francisco carpenter. ‘Especially since it lasts all week. You just have to drive around it. There’s no way to avoid it.'”
Cabanatuan reports, “Macworld will draw some 40,000 enthusiasts, plus thousands of people working for 400 exhibitors, to Moscone Center, where all three of the convention halls will be in use. Today is expected to be the biggest draw, with Apple Computer co-founder and chief executive Steve Jobs giving a much-anticipated keynote speech at 9 a.m. at Moscone West.”
“‘There will probably be people lined up around the block (this) morning,’ said Leonie Patrick, national sales manager for the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the person who books Macworld,” Cabanatuan reports. “Orville Yumang, supervisor of a 350-space private parking lot at Fifth and Folsom streets, expects a full lot. Some attendees, particularly vendors with vans and trucks to park, have booked spots in advance, he said. ‘It’s going to be crazy here (today),’ he predicted.”
Cabanatuan reports, “Macworld is not only one of the largest conventions in San Francisco, but also among the best known, said Patrick. And it comes at a time when hotels and restaurants can use the business.”

Where’s Enderle gonna park?
enderle comes in via flying carpet!
In a handicapped spot, of course. Don’t the mentally retarded get placards?
Those in the back that find it hard to see will suffer from iStrain.
I thought he always sat in Bill Gates’ lap.
Uh, oh. Where did I put those Depends…
Enderle gets carried in by his flying monkeys.
One of these days I will go…..
@ fingers crossed : ha ha good one, but actually most retards I´ve seen isn´t as stoopid as enderle. He´s not retarded, he´s a plain moron.
Enderle isn’t going, he is just going to sit at his desk and make wild suppositions and guesses about whats going on and what it means like he always does. I mean do you think the guy actually does any research?
Haven’t they invented public transport in America yet?
I thought Enderle used a flying chair.
I went to MWSF in ’96. I met Todd Rundgren and Sinbad (seriously). It was killer.

Did you bang Todd’s drum all day?
I’m not anti-environment, but as I was reading this I asked myself a simple question:
Why can’t the tree huggers of San Fran use the public transportation?
(gasps in the background)
The US taxpayers ponied up a ton of money for BART and other ongoing public mass transit project in the home of the tree hugging left. As a US Taxpayer who doesn’t live in San Francisco I ask you again, Why not ride the Bus or the Subway?
Maybe it’s alarming to hear someone suggest that a Californian get out of their car, but maybe people who vote for this kind of thing should actually use it.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Now let’s see what that Uncle Steve has brought us.
Nope, just thanked him for making Skylarking such a beautiful album.

Convention and VISITORS Bureau.
Convention and VISITORS Bureau.
Just keep repeating this to yourself until you understand that most of the attendees are not San Francisco residents.

No way Lord Steve can even come close to meeting expectations today. Hope you sold some AAPL yesterday and hope you are ready to be disappointed with what you are about to hear on this, Lord Steve’s last Keynote!
Well as of right now I’m sure glad I didn’t sell any yesterday. Broke through 87!
san fran has probably the BEST public transit of any US city
why would anyone drive to moscone?
The Apple store just went off line!
G4Dualie…
I noticed that the Apple store went offline too…isn’t it a bit early for the store to shut it’s doors? ..In the past, I think Apple had waited til’ the keynote started…or just before..but no 30 or so minutes prior…either way, Happy MacWorld to everyone…!!!!
@ gman
You’re correct, I don’t ever remember it closing this early. Maybe it’s nothing, but Wall Street certainly seems to be optimistic.
Enderle doesn’t WANT to be INFORMED about Apple for heavens sake.
And if he did he would crawl from out of the SF sewers of course..!
Sorry..!
