Jay-Z gives shout out to Steve Jobs in song from new album

“I finally got the chance to listen to the new album from Jay-Z titled ‘Kingdom Come,'” Brian Stucki reports for FreeMacBlog.

“As I was listening to the first track titled ‘The Prelude’ … I heard Jay-Z give a little shout-out to Steve Jobs and the iPod. The exact line was ‘you see hova wasnt digital yet, before steve jobs made the ipod,'” Stucki reports.

Does this make up for Liz Phair’s “Xbox” reference in “Rock Me” or not?

  1. how long will it be before p diddy starts giving a shout out to gates and balmer for the zune? probably the same time i take off my turban and shave all my body hair. sorry zune tang, i still want to get down and dirty with you, check out the rusty trombone on urbandictionay, i think it would be a nice addition to our repetoire.

  2. Ron try to stay on topic.

Here, let me help you out. If a big name pop star/record company exec promotes The Steve and the iPod on his new album, you should say something like:

Gee I bet no one will give a shout out to Monkey Boy or the Zune

Try to keep up. Loosen your helmet if it’s too tight.

  3. I was just reading how Jay-Z tied Rolling Stones for third-most #1 albums with “Kingdom Come.” —

Rapper Jay-Z came out on top of the post-Thanksgiving U.S. pop album charts Wednesday, tying the Rolling Stones for the third-most No. 1 hits.

“Kingdom Come” (Def Jam) sold a hefty 680,000 copies in the week ended Nov. 26, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It marked the former retiree’s best sales week ever, and ninth chart-topper. The Beatles lead that list with 19, followed by Elvis Presley with 10.

  4. I can rap.
Watch. (I just “composed”, or “wrote” this).

“Yo, I’m a Rapper. Sittin’ on the Crapper.
I like to play Monopoly, my Poop it goes a Plop-O-Ly.’ (

    That’s actually pretty good).

    Now, where’s my $ 30 gazillion.

    I am TALENTED. BRILLIANT.

  5. I just did a bit of googling for “Jay-z” and “hova”.

Apparently as many posted above it is short for Jehova and apparently when he raps the word he is referring to himself. Hey Jay-z. Way to go giving the heads up for Steve Jobs and the iPod but you aint a god dude…

And I don’t think Rap is all that clever either. But hey. Whatever floats your boats peeps…
