No Scroll Zone: Bill O’Reilly slams Apple iPod

“Apparently sparked by the PlayStation 3 launch, conservative pundit Bill O’Reilly took off after video game culture and digital technology generally in yesterday’s Radio Factor,” GamePolitics reports. “The controversial talk show host, who advertises his program as a ‘no spin zone’ offered the following spin on Apple’s iPod:”

I don’t own an iPod. I would never wear an iPod… If this is your primary focus in life – the machines… it’s going to have a staggeringly negative effect, all of this, for America… did you ever talk to these computer geeks? I mean, can you carry on a conversation with them? …I really fear for the United States because, believe me, the jihadists? They’re not playing the video games. They’re killing real people over there.

1. don’t own an iPod.

Having been in the “military” and overseas in that part of the world, I know how totally different life is “over there” than back in our comfy USA.

Trust me, 99% of all Americans really, really, REALLY have it good. To walkin a supermarket here and see such a abundance of FOOD just displayed and in easy reach is something most of the world doesn’t see.

By the way the “jihadists” are managing to kill a few dozen people here and there on average, but the US is quite cable of killing tens to hundreds of thousands, even millions of people in a rather short time.

It’s rather easy to program a young man to kill, but the effects when he returns to society is rather devestating. To his family, himself and his friends.

Imagine trying to live normally working some lame job after you came home from war killing shitloads of camel jockeys?

I can, it’s boring for a long time until you forget the past.

2. Bill O’Reilly has the dubious distinction of being crowned the National Whackjob of America. This guy is the dumbest, most screwed up motherfucker in all media. If Fox News didn’t exist he wouldn’t have a job in the US. Maybe in the 30s in Nazi Germany. O’Reilly probably has a swastika tattooed on his scrotum. Stupid, sonofabitch motherfucker doesn’t even know his ass from a hole in the ground.

3. The difference between Rush and O’Reilly? Rush is a conservative, O’reilly doesn’t even claim to be a Republican, calls himself “Independent”

Why does Fox keep him on? asshole or not, he creams the competition in ratings.

Do I like him? I agree with a lot what he says, but I couldn’t see shooting pool with him.

And when he is wrong? He goes off the deep end, likde when he believed oil companies were the reason for the price of crude.

Ahyone agree with him for jumping on Fox entertainment about the OJ book/show?

4. I think there’s something of an iPod backlash going on. And what’s really odd is that it seems to be comimg from the Mac community. Some time ago the editor of a well known Mac magazine published an editorial with a similar attitude (only without the neocon sentiment).

Basicaly what it came down to was that the editor felt that anyone using an iPod in public was disassociating themselves from social interaction with their fellow man and that this disassociation was bad for iPod user and society. I’ve read similar op-ed pieces regarding cell phone use in public. IMHO, Bill Reilly is just saying something similar.

WTF!

I don’t even have an iPod (nor do I have any desire for one), but why does anyone think they have some right to accost a fellow human just because they’re out in public. Just because someone is walking/running/whatever down the street and outside the privacy of their home doesn’t mean they’re looking to engage in some social interact with their fellow man.

Are some people so socialisticly neurotic they just can’t handle the fact that other human beings are not paying attention to them?

Oops… what about the prison-industrial complex? US prisons have become big business, housing 25% of all the people in the world behind bars, the largest prison population on the planet. Can these people visit a supermarket?

Even worse:

South Africa under apartheid (1993), Black males: 851 per 100,000

U.S. under George Bush (2004), Black males: 4,919 per 100,000

According to the US Census Bureau, in 2005, 7.67 Million Families lived below the poverty level [9.9%].

Eliminating American poverty tied to homeland security, says poverty expert.

“We currently have the highest rates of poverty in the industrialized world,” says Rank. “It’s no coincidence that we also have the highest rates of incarceration, poor health, unequal education and low paying jobs among the developed countries. This undermines and threatens us all.

It’s obvious our priorities lie elsewhere: US is Single Vote Against Rationality in the UN

On October 26, the United Nations voted on a resolution to lay the groundwork for a treaty that would curb exporting arms to conflict areas or areas known for human rights abuses. The resolution passed 139 to 1, with 24 abstentions. The lone opponent? The world’s largest arms exporter, the United States.

Bill O’Really is an angry man, but he doesn’t really understand what he’s angry about.

6. Thanks, I throughly enjoy posting!

Yes, I am disgusting scum.
Disgusting scum is what I am.
Let’s all cry.
I have no right to live in a world where people think differently than I do.
I certainly have no right to think it.
Or say it.

Bill O’Reilly is using you.
You are his audience.
His customers.

He’s selling you what you want to hear.

And you.
Are buying it.

Go team!
Go Bill!

Bill? What the hell has Bill ever done for anybody?

You’ll call people scum in his name.
You’ll hurl insults at them.
You’ll set them apart and far below fine, upstanding folk like yourselves.

The Lawful.
The Righteous.

Sorry.
From down here with the freaks…

It’s a pretty ugly paradise you believe in.
