Good for Al Jazeera. Now they’ll have the best tools to combat the American Propaganda Machine, most notably CNN. Israel has America in the palm of its hands – and the rest of the world knows it. I love America, and often speak out about what’s going on behind the scenes by most Israelis and American Jews. But we’re going to get it pretty bad down the road. Al Jazeera is not a reputable news agency. They are a propaganda mouthpiece.
I am not saying that there is not room in the world for a reputable Islamic news agency, but Al Jazeera is not it. I am also not saying that with time that Al Jazeera could become a reputable news agency, but not now.
All you have to do is read their copy and you understand they are more interested in making a point than reporting the news.

1. It’s ridiculous that people think every other channel but Fox is “liberal”. Way to internalize the talking points of the conservative corporate movement, which has been successfully repeating this for 25 years to push the national conversation rightward. Nevermind that the corporate parents of every TV network are major Republican party donors, that the number of rightwing cable and radio hosts far, far outweighs the number of “liberal” ones on all channels, and that recently many executives at various news organizations have admitted to slanting the news rightward so as not to offend the well-organized right-wing crazies. (See: Mark Halperin and Dick Meyer.) Check out mediamatters.org for documentation of the daily rightward slanting of all networks and media outlets. As long as news is corporate-controlled, it will ALWAYS be right-leaning, as that greases the money machine for everyone at the top.

To say that Al Jazeera is unbiased is a huge claim, as it is for any news provider. Bias is inherent in any reporting of any news.
All news providers are biased in some respect. If a news provider tries to be unbiased, that is of course admirable, but they have a demographic to cater to, which will instill a bias in their reporting.
I don’t want to launch a bashing session, but having seen the American news channels, they seem to be not to even try to be unbiased, and the world is very black and white to them Us vs them etc.
I can’t help but feel that our only hope as consumers is to watch as wide as possible a range of news providers, with their inherent biases and decide for ourselves where the truth lies.
But good for apple for being a part of something which will provide the world with more information, more options and hopefully, a more balanced outlook.
And as before, G=Spank has wandered off the Apple playground and got lost. (come on, man, you got to admit, that’s a little bit funny)

I have had many difference with other Christians over the years over various doctrines and beliefs. I can recognize when someone will not budge and I just need to let them simmer in their dogmatism. It is sheer lunacy to put Christianity and Islam in the same category. What are you thinking? You have to go back a hundreds of years to find any massive moral issue with the Christian church. But you can see daily what Islam produces: genocide, oppression, totalitarian states, suicide bombers, the slaughter of women and children.
We can debate whether America is a Christian nation, but it clearly was designed with a Christian worldview. It is that foundation which still influences us, much to our ill, to send in our military with kid gloves, making every precaution to protect the lives of civilians, women and children, even in the heat of war. Would the Islamist do this? No freaking way! They rejoiced in the mulitudes who died on 9/11. Women and children? Yes, they rejoiced to see them dead. They are trying to repeat that evil over and over again.
You cannot make friends with them. You cannot appease them. We are at war. They want our families dead. Think about that.
