Over at the University of Arkansas computer store, they’ve made a Mac-O-Lantern for Halloween.
Oh, BTW, Happy Halloween!
The beauty of the functional and organic pumpkin case mod is its fleeting existence. the coolest thing about this project is the fact that such an extraordinary amount of precious time was squandered on a fruitless(!) pursuit. There are better case mods out there, and there are sweeter jack-o-lanterns. We split the difference.
Official Mac-O-Lantern specs:
• 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo
• 512MB 667 DDR2 SDRAM – 2×256
• 80GB Serial ATA drive
• SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
• Mac OS X – U.S. English
• 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo
• Intel GMA 950 graphics
• Accessory kit
Mac-O-Lantern comes complete with Logitech camera “eyes,” the audio output is routed through the speaker “mouth,” and the cooling fan “breathes” out of the nose:
More info and many photos here.
What stupid things people will do, just because they can.
Bet the Mac-O-Lantern will really start to stink of rotting pumpkin in no time.
some people have a lot of time on their hands….
Stupid and that’s where MDN should be. inside a pumpkin.
When is someone going to produce a fully functioning Mac inside a real apple? Now that would be an achievement.
More like lame-o-lantern.
Dumb…plus they are using a Dell monitor…ugh
Leave it to the trolls of the Apple world to bash a fun project. Get into the fscking spirit you nimrods! I swear to god the mac fanboys are the worst community of all, especially here at MDN.
lighten up guys…what would the world be like if not for those who put computers in pumpkins…dull.
Apparently some of you don’t realize Arkansas is where Little Rock, the Mecca of the Left, is located. And you know who went to U of AR, so be careful bashing these people.
That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!!!! I want one!!!
“FistOfGod” is right with respect to puting computers in pumpkins.
2 weeks from now it’ll be all mushy. Perhaps it should be refridgerated.

I used to build my own computers and I always put them in pumpkins since it was the cheapest case I could get. I was concerned about the processor, RAM, video card etc., not the stupid case. I thought it was odd the first time I saw a computer in a plastic case. What a waste on non-biodegradable resources.
Seriously guys… I think this is a perfect case of thinking outside the “box”… the store just thought, “… hey, for years now Apple computers have been… ‘trapped inside… dull little boxes, dutifully performing dull little tasks…’ it’s time we surround them with something more ‘environmentaly’ friendly!” It was supposed to be a fun thing on a fun day. Relax boys and girls, relax.
MW: “zipper,” as in, what some of you need over your mouths!
Hey all you fatheads who are putting down fun projects like this pumpkin Mac, try opening your minds a little and being nice. Jeez you guys are loozerrs for certain.
[unbelievable MDN: “feeling”, as in have some feelings you dopes.]
Hmm. Nothing wrong with the mac-o-lantern, but I wonder if there is a Clinton-UAR connection. I did not have sex with that pumpkin? *laughs*
That’s easy, take a Mac mini and stick it into a Pumpkin!
