Note: We have no confirmation of this reported event. Note also that the “Buy a Mac, get a free iPod nano” promo for college students ends on September 16th. Any significance to that chosen date?

  1. I returned to the Mac world two years ago this fall. When I did, I bought a PB G4 12″, with a buy a Mac get an iPod promotion. Although I still enjoy my 20gb iPod – when that promotion ended – Apple introduced a new line of Ipods. Damn.

So now I wait til’ January for the new OS – and a new desktop Mac. Maybe splurge for a new iPod too – if it has some nifty new features.

  2. anybody else see the connection between the largest OS update in Apple history (10.4.8) that was just seeded to developers AND the sept 12th announcement??

    they HAVE to be connected.

    discuss.

  3. I was just thinking that, are things not allowed to happen on september 11th anymore? I wonder how long this will continue.

Actually, it’s just that 12 September 2006 is a Tuesday, and Apple usually makes their non-Keynote announcements on Tuesdays.

Like new albums and DVDs are released on Tuesdays. Why, I do not know, but that’s the way it is.

  4. It’s got to be something consumer-related, after all the complaining the talking tech-heads did after WWDC.

With the reports of Australian retailers slashing iPod prices, it looks like new iPods…but what form factor? Touchscreen makes them far less portable for many folks; how do you make adjustments like volume control or song advance? (Unless it includes a Bluetooth remote, which should also mean capability for wireless Bluetooth headphones which I would maim for…) Maybe larger capacity? I know several folks who have their current iPods at max capacity but have tons more stuff on their computer they’d like to bring along. And if iTMS is going to start carrying full-length movies, we’re going to need larger capacity iPods for those file sizes.

Glad they put it off till 9/12, so as not to get lost in all the 9/11 observances…

  5. Well I’m glad the 12th is such a well chosen date, I would hate to lose a whole day of the year to terrorists, it seems to me there are only 365 of em, too few. I don’t think it’s good to dwell on the whole thing, there seem to be too many documentaries and tastless movies endlessly running over the same old ground.

Anyway hope Apple release something interesting.
