The Sims 2 Open for Business goes live

Aspyr Media, Inc. announced today that The Sims 2 Open for Business is now live on their website –

In addition, final system requirements have also been set.

Get Down to Business with your Sims! Set your Sims up in their own businesses. Create a variety of new, unique businesses, such as bakeries, boutiques, salons, and countless thriving shops. Hire a staff to stock the shop and sell the goods. Will they build the neighborhood’s favorite shop or the next entrepreneurial empire?

System Requirements:
Requires the full version of The Sims 2 for Mac OS X to play
– Operating System: Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later
– CPU Processor: PowerPC G4/G5 or Intel Chipset
– CPU Speed: 1.2GHz or faster
– Memory: 256 MB or higher (512 MB recommended)
– Hard Disk Space: 2GB free disk space
– Video Card (ATI): Radeon 9000 
– Video Card (NVidia): GeForce FX5200 
– Video Memory (VRAM): 32 MB or higher (64 MB recommended)
– Media Required: DVD Drive

SUPPORTED VIDEO CHIPSETS – ATI Radeon: 9000, 9200, 9550, 9600, 9700, 9800, X600, X850, X1600 nVidia Geforce: FX 5200, 6600, 6800, 7800.

  1. Not so. The iMac doesn’t come with integrated video unless the educational edition was purchased. But yes, it looks like those with MacBooks are out of luck. It’s not their fault if the game is so hard on system resources.
