Apple Japan marketing chief resigns

“Apple Computer Inc. said Tuesday that Vice President of Marketing Yoshiaki Sakito, one of the company’s top Japan executives, has stepped down,’ The Associated Press reports.

“Sakito resigned Monday after Apple and Sakito reached an agreement, said Apple, which declined to give details,” AP reports.

“Sakito has been credited with leading a successful marketing push for Apple’s iPod portable digital music player in Japan,” AP reports.

AP reports, “Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president overseeing worldwide marketing, will replace Sakito in an interim position, and a successor has not yet been named, according to Apple… The Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan’s top business daily, reported… that Apple’s Japan operations will have a major change in its leadership.”
