Video: Woz playing Segway polo (and bonking pedestrian on head)

CNET News.com’s Daniel Terdiman found millionaire Steve Wozniak scooting around the polo field at the Maker Faire in San Mateo, Calif., on April 22. So, this isn’t new, but it may be “new to you.”

CNET’s camera catches the Apple co-founder bonking a pedestrian inthe head/shoulder area with the polo ball.

  1. Woz made a MONUMENTAL contribution and fundamental change to the world as we know it.

    A cheap plywood-case computer?

    A long-forgotten and decades-obsolete floppy disk controller?

Woz will fade into history’s footnotes, like so many pioneers in countless other industries.

And speaking of footnotes, I still don’t know WTF this has to do with the Mac.
This site had better change to http://www.dailynews.com if there’s nothing even remotely Mac-related to run.

  2. Yo, channel Z,

yea I’ve heard of geek cruises but that’s not this. This was high end adventure cruising and the Woz took them regularly and brought along a mountain of computer gear. The captain was quite emphatic. The whole topic came up as he was explaining about a lot of rich people who could have bought the ship but chose to ride instead and be catered to.

Not that gay is bad, I like chicks!

In all the Woz news I’d never heard mention of his orientation.

  3. Why are so many people getting so cinical, rude and just plain mean spirited on this site??? 2 years ago there wasn’t a fraction of the a__holes there are now. Is this who we are or is it just a sign of the times?

  4. Don’t bash Woz. How do you think the development of the Mac was funded? The Apple ][ sold well into the ’80s. It was the world’s first personal computer, designed by Woz, of course.

Now it would have been been nice if he had stayed at Apple, but after his departure he became an educator and has contributed a lot to education.

    “A cheap plywood-case computer?

—> Uhhhh, I think you mean the Apple I. Not the *first*, but a *complete* system that totally popularized personal computing. No Apple I, No Mac in all probability. The Apple ][ series was still accounting for most of Apple’s revenue well after the intro of the Mac.

    A long-forgotten and decades-obsolete floppy disk controller?

—> Still being talked about *today* as a feat of engineering genius of it’s day – Used 1/4-1/5th the amount of chips of floppy controllers of it’s time.

Woz will fade into history’s footnotes, like so many pioneers in countless other industries.

—> If I am not mistaken, Woz has his own listing in the Encyclopaedia Britannica (either under his name or Apple Computer). I couldn’t find my name.

You have to look at his contributions *in the context of the time-frame in history that they happened*. This was amazing stuff in the late ’70s/early ’80s for *PERSONAL COMPUTING*. I am fortunate to be old enough to remember the impact of these things. You may be old enough too – but you need to see it *in context*.

  6. Everybody that posted here must be from generation Whine. I’ve never seen such a collection of little bitches than I just saw reading this thread. One of them said for Woz to “get a life”. This was posted by someone who has nothing better to do than post a disrespectful comment on this thread. It doesn’t get any more pathetic than that.
