Apple today released MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.1 which adjusts fan behavior in the MacBook Pro 17-inch.
The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder and will launch automatically after restart.
A status bar indicates the progress of the update. During the update your computer fans will run at full speed, but will return to normal once the update completes.
MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.1 is available via Software Update and as a standalone installer (790KB) here.

I got my 17 MBP last week, haven’t had the heat or fan issues others have had, in fact I haven’t head the fan yet, hopefully Apple has resolved the issue.

they need to make a firmware to fix the mooo and whine sounds on the macbook. that is the most important thing they need to fix.
