  1. I hope that they merge the shuffle with the Apple remote control. One more position on the switch in the back and they have a wonderful convergence gadget on their hands. Once you have one of the new Shuffle remotes, you will of course want to use it with your new Mac Mini home entertainment system.

  2. SJ will not bump the capacity of the shuffle form-factor above 1GB. Anything larger would be difficult to navigate. My bet is that the 1GB nano will be reduced to $99 when the capacity on the top end is increased sometime this year. From that point on, the entry point for an iPod will be $99. If you want something cheaper, buy an older generation machine used or refurbed for about half that.

  3. Just an opinion……..

They really should continue to sell a model WITHOUT a screen. You don’t have to worry much with a shuffle – throw it across the room, in a backpack, whatever – no screen to worry about damaging. People may think the shuffle is limiting, but it does EXACTLY what it does PERFECTLY.

    Just an opinion……..

You’re right, for user’s like Christopher’s brother and the blind, having to interface with the screen is the ‘step 3’ some user’s don’t need. I really hope Apple keeps are Shuffle in the iPod line-up. Ship a black version Mr. Steve and watch them fly out of your stores…

Grinch? Has anyone ever mentioned you’re a Prick.

Anecdotal evidence that the Shuffle is particularly well suited for a particular group of users is off-topic how, exactly?

Probably good for the blind, the very young and elderly too, as well as the often mentioned athletic uses. Niche markets? Yes, but taken together a sizable one.
