“The new Apple store may not be open to the public until tomorrow, but we got a sneak peek at this morning’s press preview. Behold! Comments: looked kind of small, but the Apple retail chief dude said it was actually more square-feet than the Soho location. There’s 45 feet of Genius Bar action, and 96 dedicated Geniuses, so hopefully that’ll reduce some of the strain on the Soho spot. The store (and Genius Bar) will be open friggin’ 24 hours a day, perfect for your drunken 4 a.m. Macbook cravings. They alluded to ‘surprises’ tomorrow at 6 p.m. out on the plaza (where there is now free Wi-Fi), when the store officially opens. You have been warned,” Curbed reports.

Macbooks for $1098 and All Hookers, 1/2 Price!!!
Sounds like my kind of party!
“All Hookers, 1/2 Price!!!”
Does that include T.J., Buddy Joe, Billy Hank, Richard, the Happy, and John Lee? Sweet action!
Did you see the comments over there on curbed?
They’re talking about looking up women’s skirts
through the glass stairsteps! Freakin’ hilarious.
MW – boy: Boys will be boys. LOL
Hmmm…a free Bono concert to announce the red iPod?
Apple sucks, period.
“Macbooks for $1098 and All Hookers, 1/2 Price!!!”
If they are Fifth Ave. hookers, I probably still
couldn’t afford one at half price!
Would someone please tell me why all the hysteria?
Other than more of ’em to play with, does this store have anything all the others don’t?
Anybody with real answers for real problems or all of ’em trained to say: “normal operation” when asked about fixing overheating, noise, freezes, crashes, glitches and other troubles?
Someone’s going to have a full time job just washing the glass cube every day.
I think it looks pretty sweet at night. But the daytime pics look pretty hideous.
THE BIG ONE!
Bet Gateway and Mickey Dell (not to mention Monkey Boy, Donut Boy Glaser, et al) is just hating Apple right about now.
Dell said retail locations were sure to fail like Gateway. Got to love it!
Dvorak was right after all! Apple has gone from having no Windows, to being all windows!
The store is underground so the cube is really just a fancy skylight. If you have ever worked at a place without any natural light during the course of the day then you know it sucks. This is a really clever way for Apple to get natural light into the store.
Ampar:
You forgot to include Johnny Hooker, Henry Gondorff’s partner in The Sting, and “Fighting Joe” Hooker, from whence the epithet for prostitutes allegedly sprang.
MW: street, where you’ll find many hookers…
Thanks, Mac Yak! And let’s not forget bait hangers (with fishnets but not stockings) and people who make rugs the old-fashioned way. They don’t charge by the hour however.
Mmmmmmm……Cube!
Also, like KenC I predict a free U2 concert on the street with the release of the Red U2 iPod.
I saw the cube today first hand.
Let me say the pictures in no way capture how incredible this is.
3 stories of glass. The Apple logo looks like it is floating in the air. It is simply beautiful.
Utterly beautiful.
