Apple to hold special media event tomorrow

A reminder that in an email sent last week to media outlets, Apple invited the media to visit Apple’s Cupertino, Calif., headquarters, Apple Town Hall, Building 4 at 10am PST/1pm EST next Tuesday, February 28 to “Come see some fun new products from Apple.” The invitation (shown at left) includes nothing more than an iCal image of a calendar with the date Feb. 28.

“Sam Bhavnani, an analyst at market researcher Current Analysis, said he thinks Apple may introduce a 17-inch MacBook Pro as well as a redesigned iBook with a 13-inch widescreen display,” Ina Fried reports for CNET News. “‘The reason to expect an iBook announcement is so that Apple is able to have sufficient quantities shipping in time for back to school,’ Bhavnani said in an e-mail interview. ‘The fact that Apple started shipping Intel products ahead of schedule means it is serious about winning ‘switchers,’ and key to getting Windows customers will be to have systems that cost significantly less than $2,000.’ Bhavnani said that an ideal iBook would arrive in time for the education buying season, cost $999, and include Intel’s Core Duo chip.”

  1. At +11:30, Steve is going to bring Jenna Jameson on stage. Together they’re going to introduce iRotica®, a brand new, full-featured, 2 million titles video porn store. Revolutionary Apple-developed technology will hard-encode [pun intended] all user accounts to unpoachable retina scans cross-linked to NSA security dossiers on every citizen, thereby eliminating any concerns that parents may have about the little ones accessing the store.

Streaming will be in full H.264 and [wink, wink] blow away anything that Real Video can offer. Downloading and saving to disk will be the first choice, though (since, you know, people want to “own” and not “rent” their porn), and Apple promises incredible “burst” rates on downloads that will enable men to download a 30 minute “film” in as little as 45 seconds — a time frame that they’re accustomed to.

As with Madonna’s music, Jenna’s “films” will be featured on the front page of the site for the next 30 days, and special discounts will apply to anything of hers that a user purchases. This also includes her vagina replicas.

Cross promotions initially will include tie-ins with Ron Jeremy and Belladonna. Special features will include the “accessories” section for additional purchases of a “harder” nature, i.e. sexual aids and such. There’ll also be the now-typical “If you liked this title, you may also like …” recommendations, as well as User Ratings weighted one a scale of one-to-five erect penises.

No word yet on whether or not there’ll be a used panty purchase option, but knowing Steve’s penchant for completeness . . . probably.

    You heard it here first.

  2. ‘The fact that Apple started shipping Intel products ahead of schedule means it is serious about winning ‘switchers,’[Quote from article]

I tire of hearing this and similar statements. Apple switches to Intel and they get more switchers??? BS!

It’s all about the OS!!!! – OS X!!

It doesn’t matter what processor is running inside a Mac. Again, it’s the OS. Apple switching to Intel means nothing to the average Windows user. They don’t care about processors, they care about software and the OS…

Apple needs to promote it’s OS way more than it is currently – which seems to be not at all.
