Apple ‘iWeb’ and iLife ‘06 revealed in Apple.com online slip

An astute Mac Rumors reader has noted a slip-up on Apple’s Garageband website which reveals that iLife ’06 and a product called “iWeb” will soon be released — presumably at Macworld San Francisco. The Apple page provides links discussions on “iWeb”, listed as a product along with iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand and iTunes.

You’ve got to be right on the money there. All your media content wrapped into a website using iLife. Drag and drop like GoLive, and with blog creation built in.

  2. It’s probably just that…a web app with some extras…hence the other rumor out there about the terabyte of storage on .Mac. I think January 10th is going to genuinely shock some people.

  3. This site isn’t going to get sued for something that was posted on a pulbic page at Apple, however the part about someone getting fired may be the case. I do find it amusing to some degree how people almost cheer for the thought of someone losing their job at Apple. Like they have this sick dream of steve lowering these people unside down by their feet into a shark tank.

  4. Man, I really screwed up when I made those postings to my former employer’s website. Ironically, I was using iWeb to do it. Back to freelance work and now I have more time to perfect my dancing gopher page.

  5. The next big thing for the average computer user could well be putting all his “stuff” on the web, so he can share it with friends & family– music, pictures, video, thoughts, family trees, etc. Let’s call this iWeb. Apple has a good start with this with its .Mac offering. But many users will want to go beyond the canned capabilities of .Mac — maybe even run a small home business on the web.

What is needed is a set of programs that do the basic iWeb functions. These must be written in a language that is easy to read/learn/understand/modify by non-programmers.

CFML is the answer — nothing else comes close.

Yes, you can do this today — and the CF engine required is free.

  6. I doubt that it’s just for .Mac or that it’s just a service because it was listed along with other iApps, but, interestingly, not at the top of the page. I wonder if it will be part of iLife 06, iWork 06, or maybe a stand alone app?

  7. Someone is sooooooooooo fired for f-cking this up

I am beginning to think that these “slip ups” are a part of Apple’s strategy to hype and bring attention to Macworld Expo. I mean, how come everytime there is an expo there are leaks with somebody getting fired subsequently? Come on, those webmasters can’t be too dumb to realize that if they are not careful, they’d be fired just like the untold number of their colleagues and predecessors. Haven’t they learned already?
