“More than 1 million Windows users bought Mac computers for the first time this year, according to a recent report. PC users are converting to Macintosh computers in growing numbers, thanks in part to the stunning success of the Apple iPod, the New York Post reported Tuesday,” CNN/Money reports.
“‘Apple has attracted a much larger audience for its personal computers due to the success of the iPod,’ Steve Lidberg, an analyst at Pacific Crest Securities, told the newspaper. ‘There are definitely a lot of people who are joining the Mac ecosystem for the first time.’ Over the last several quarters, as Apple marketed new and improved iPods, Mac have sales jumped, reaching 48 percent year-over-year growth in the latest quarter,” CNN/Money reports.

first post, am I bovered
i think my mac has a virus.. does anyone know any free online antivirus scan.. like the ones norton and mcafee offer? their “Free Scan” that works on a mac OS ?
I know that I’ve talked two neighbors, two co-workers, my parents and both of my brothers into purchasing Macs this coming year!
If every Mac owner could get just two Windows sufferers to convert, Mac would dominate the industry in the next 5 years!
i think—–Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.
MW–audience–as in..what i think is looking for.
I think
You don’t have a virus, because there are no viruses for the Mac.
There is a free virus scanner I think, look for it on versiontracker. But it won’t help because tou don’t have one.
What the f**k is a Mac ecosystem?
If you’re having weird behavior, you may need a disk repair utility. Macs are machines afterall and they goof up every once in a while. The latest Tiger update is known to be buggy for some people. My install sucked. Strangely, though, after several restarts over a few days, all seems well again.
If you’re new to Macs, check out programs like Diskwarrior or Techtool to repair problems. There are other programs, as well.
It really is pretty unlikely that you have a virus.
i think—-try this.

The headline refers to the Mac way of doing things, the Mac world, the Mac cult, or whatever other term you want to use for it.

a free Mac antivirus program:

MW = freedom – Biggest reason to use a Mac is the FREEDOM from viruses
And not just because of the iPod because Mac is a universe better than Windoze.
And as for the thread above – that’s great, because now tomorrows headlines are going to tell us there is a Mac OSX virus around. And the day after in little print will be – ‘no no, false alarm, it wasn’t…’
“More than 1 million Windows users bought Mac computers for the first time this year, according to a recent report.” ?????
I would like to see the official Apple postion on this, not some ANALyst guessing.
Unfortunetly most Windoze users just blindly run off the edge of the cliff following the herd. Besides if they switched what would they do with all that pirated software. LOL
Thurrott.. thurrott… we have a ‘Halo Effect’ on line 2… you need to take this call.. stop avoiding this guy..
this “ecosystem thing” is a buzzword that gates/ballmer/ms seem to have been using. it’s a well innovative use of english, innit
