The Dock already allows you to place folders onto the Dock and access their internal files. You can create folders of aliases, and add these to the Dock to organize your files and applications.

Nice try, but too involving. If you really need this for very specific needs, then give it a try, but otherwise, the Dock takes care of 95% of all needs. Most users will never need this extra crap. It’s a bit like DragThing.
