“It’s no longer expected that Apple on Thursday will host a special event to introduce new music-related products. Sources now report that media alerts sent from Apple to several French publications were slightly misleading and misinterpreted,” AppleInsider reports.

D’oh!
Ah thats so sad.. i was really hoping for something big… there goes what ive been waiting for all week.
Still i hope they plan something big in the future (soon to come)
Old news, but still dissapointing. Was looking forward to the AirPort Express with remote, and the iTunes phone. Of course, I’d just be happy with 10.4.2 I suppose.
Alice, I’m sorrry to point out what’s really sad is that this news is what you’ve been waiting for all week. But I shouldn’t talk, as I fiend over this stuff too. God, we’re both sad.
=]
Damn, I was planning on buying a new iMac with my developer discount, which expires on the 18th. Now I don’t know what to do… I don’t want to get stuck with an immediately obsolete computer.
Just because it’s not music, doesn’t mean something new won’t be coming out…besides, 10.4.2 is going to be a great release, and it’s due any day now…
Why do they toy with us?
oh well, s**t happens
Not sure why anyone would delay buying an iMac. What changes could you seriously expect to a computer that has only recently been quite impressively upgraded?
Apple have been saying they have great stuff in the pipeline for the past year and a half – not seen any of it yet. Apple are the most hyped company around and you lot are all its victims. Fish.
Of course don’t tell anyone but the true reason that this ‘French’ inspired media fest didn’t happen was because it centred around congratulating Paris on winning the 2012 Olympics and the massive planned role that Apple was going to play in providing iPod/vPods to every athlete. London unfortunately being in Bill Gates pocket is likely to provide every athlete with XP service pack 8 laptops in 2012 as Longhorn won’t quite be ready in time.
Henry – where’ve you been ma boy?! Just of the top of my head – released in 2004: iPod mini, Aiport Express with Airtunes, iMac G5, iPod photo… Released this year, Mac mini, iPod shuffle, iLife ’05, iWork, etc.
Apple are hyped, and deservedly so. Wanker.
Gawd, these bloggers will say anything just to have something to say, even if they have nothing to say, won’t they?
Well, the delay of buying an iMac was based on my assumption that they were going to introduce some neat new gadget, that I’d be able to tack onto my bill (at the discount) when I bought the iMac. Oh well.
Bill Palmer called it right:
“Hello French publication,
You and a number of other French publications (but no American publications) are cordially invited to an upcoming Apple event, which will take place on or before July 7th at an undisclosed location. See you there, and be sure to be on time!
Thanks,
Apple”

From Appleinsider: “Apple Computer is distributing media alerts and invitations to a special event that will take place on or before Thursday, July 7th, but the company is not yet offering details.”

Since when does Apple alert the media to an event and NOT tell them where it is or the exact day and time? I’ve seen past invitations for similar events and they’ve always had the date, time, location and directions to the venue on them.
This supposed media event was nothing more than a bunch of people trying to get the community excited.
Sorry, I should posted what Bill said right after that:
“Anyone else see something not quite right with the above? Oh Lordy, where to even begin.”
cat person I assumed there had to be some logic to it somewhere. At least I won’t have sleepless nights over this matter now LOL.
Next week MDN can break the news again – no special apple event last week.
Who cares what Bill Palmer says?
He’s a self important idiot and a waste of electrons.
Shut up already puleeese.
That Olympics idea sounds reasonable.
