A handful of MacDailyNews readers have emailed us to let us know that they have already received their pre-ordered copies of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Tiger is due to be released on Friday, April 29th.
MDN reader “Michael” writes, “I received my copy of Tiger today! Pre-ordered from MacMall – Woohoo! God bless FedEx!”
MDN reader “Judge Bork” writes, “I’ve got Tiger in my sweaty hands! I’m stuck at work (had it shipped there), but I’ll be ‘feeling ill’ soon to rush home to my Power Mac. There’s no way I’ll make it to the end of the day, fighting this junky Dell and Windows XP while staring at this Tiger box!”
MDN reader “Ed” writes, “Uh, somebody made a mistake and my copy of Tiger arrived today a whole week early! Is it legal for me to install it before the 29th?”
Are you one of the lucky ones who have received your copy of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger? Please let us know and how your install went in our “Reader Feedback” below, thanks.
Damn, Now I keep looking out the window to see if FedEx has arrived!!!! Damn, this wait! Damn it to hell!
Yes, its legal to install it. They shipped it early, its not your fault. I recieved iWork a day ahead of time and installed it right away. Had no problems from Apple trying to say I can’t do it yet. Probably things like iSync might not be fully functional yet, that is syncing now can include more than what was included in Panther, so that you might have to wait till the 29 to do all the extra stuff.
Oh God please let me receive my family pack of Tiger today!!! please!!!!!
Amen

I want my Tiger!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!
So those of you who have received it early, once you have installed it, can you confirm that it is in fact build 8A428? Curious to see if the rumor sites got that tidbit right or not.
If you’re unsure how to check, go to the Apple menu and choose “About this Mac”. Then click on the version number “10.4” in the dialog window that opens and it should change to the build number.
Please post your results. Thanks!
God Bless You All!
It’ll be a month at least, after its release, before I could lay my hands on Tiger’s shipment box.
Wish I am in the good old US of A, rather than Thailand, to see for myself how Tiger roars.
Pics?
Somebody….Please install it and give us your first impression!
Did anyone receive an e-mail first saying the product was shipped or did it just show up?
I got an automatic email from the Apple Store saying there had been a computer error and my product would not now arrive until the 29th. I thought it a bit strange, but after this news it makes sense.
Guys, can you give us some details about how it runs under the hardware you’re installing it on?
Apple is pretty slick! Send out Tiger to those eager beavers so they can get some free beta tasters at work before everyone finds issues.
My Amazon Delivery date says:
May 10th!!!
I guess I’ll be one of the last ones to install …. 🙁
My “Up-To-Date” order still says “Processing order.” It also says ship on or before 4-29. Now would be good. I can’t wait to get a hold of it. I have an illegal copy but I figure why not wait to get it legit. It’s only 1 week. One very long week…
No offense, but I gotta say this. LUCKY BASTARDS. That’s not fair. Ugh.
Anyone knw when they will release new macs with tiger pre-installed
Any Mac after April 29 should come with Tiger preinstalled or at least a Tiger install disc for free.
I know that if you buy a mac today and it doesn’t come with Tiger you can get a copy for $10.00
